its a horrific film, but looking forward to when people see it and get back to me. therell be some who "enjoyed" it, but an objective film analysis like a critic's job is to do, i reckon most will say its awful or meh

I'll be going to see it but yeah not holding my breath on being any good.

It all depends a lot of the reviews I saw seemed pretty positive but I'll be the judge of that once i see it

I normally watch Jemery Jahns review after I see a movie and he's always pretty spot on i think he's one of the best movie reviewers on youtube.

They're all shills and/or easily pleased ;)

People might have ENJOYED it, sure. But a critical analysis of it would surely return a negative response.

Sure, it can be enjoyable...you zone out, like you do after work on the sofa in front of the tv, you're bored, you need some stimulus, take the edge off, whatever....you can sit there like a brain-dead person and enjoy the explosions and stunts, enjoy seeing Hamilton and Schwarzenegger again, even feel pumped that there's a new "Terminator" movie to digest.

Again, easily pleased. Or, you can switch off the critical mind and just go along for a ride.

The opening mass car chase scene was nice, I'll admit that. But after taking it all in and thinking back....it's just all investment in CGI, stunts and explosions, constantly, and so little story...and....so poorly devised story...so bland, generic, and also lacking substance, lacking chutzpah, classic lines, classic actions, memorable moments. (eg, arnie classic lines, arni flipping shotgun around one-handed while on bike, arnie and patrick in slow motion down that aisle, pulling shotgun out of the carton of roses, etc).

I really like the androgynous character, that was the one saving grace to it, and the opening car chase.

I'll check him out now on youtube....thanks for the tip.

yeah he's good. he brings up a ton of valid points.
i'm growing fond of The Critical Drinker, he's getting increasingly valid too as a critic.
his review was full of spoilers so he was able to go into specifics and details in depth.
hopefully jahns does a spoiler review too.

He normally does

If you want some laughs watch his reviews for the star wars prequels were pretty funny

Also his reviews for bad films are good too

I liked the first 30 minutes or so, but it really goes downhill from there.

Something James cameron said a while ago was that the Terminator had to be affected by the shooting, otherwise all the shooting was pointless. He seems to have forgotten that, or he was overruled.

Ok, a Terminator completed its mission and then lived with an abused housewife and her son while pretending to be human . . . Isn't that the plot of the first few seasons of Dexter?

The twist was too obvious.

The plane chase was overkill. I tuned out during that part.

These days with our actual concerns of AI going rampant or getting loose, i can't stop thinking why the Rev9 wouldn't copy itself onto the internet and wreak havoc that way. Maybe in another movie.

There's not a lot of originality, mostly it's a mishmash of T1-3.

Solid movie, doesn’t reach the lofty heights of T1/T2 (few can), but nowhere near as bad for me as has been painted out to be in this thread. Solid and serviceable are words that come to me as initial reactions.

I have plenty of questions about the future events (i always enjoyed that scene in T2 where Arnie explains how Skynet/Judgement Day came to be), didn’t quite get that level of exposition here but will do some reading about it.

It was heavy shit
watching John Connor (impressive de-aging by the way) getting terminated
.

I enjoy it for what it was but there are problems.

Yes, there is 'Woke' shit in it and even throws in political commentary about Mexican immigrants but can be enjoyed on its level and its not as hurtful to the film as some pretend it does. In all honesty I don't think people will care about that aspect of the film in 10 years.

The biggest issues are scenes we've seen before, more of those nod scenes to the original films, and even rips off ideas from the ignored sequels!

I don't care about this Legion future just like I didn't with Genysis. You wipe out everything from the old timeline and suddenly everything gets very boring. As a result I doubt there'll be a sequel just like the last 2 attempts.

The actors were good and it's great to see Linda Hamilton back. There are complaints about John Connor here but the reality is he was one of main protagonists of 3 and 4 and the villain of 5, where else could they go with him outside of sending himself back (and again already happened in 5)? The fresh angle was following an older Sarah.

One thing these sequel films lacked are the phased plasma rifles. Couldn't the Terminator have built some of these in his spare time for the finale? Would have been great seeing Sarah welding one of those against the T-Mex or whatever the villain is called using tech from a timeline that no longer existed.

I spose the question is, was it worth ANOTHER reboot?
It's a replacement for T3, but otherwise a valid question. Saw it Saturday night and it's ok, but it doesn't add anything. A bit of 'Let's be woke with girl power', but minor twist of whose the hero aside it's retreading ground from the first two Terminators.

The action scenes were so-so and the acting poor (ignoring Arnold as a Terminator), the acting around Arnold was average. The first two Terminators had decent acting / emotion from the 'humans' to counter balance the inhumanity of the machines the first two. With poor quality this time around it was hard to get invested in caring if they lived or died. Most of Linda Hamilton's parts felt like she was phoning it in.

At least saw Zombieland - Double Tap afterwards (2 movies at the Drive-In's). A better sequel then Dark Fate, even if not as good as the first.
