Movie Terminator Dark Fate

Salvation is a different movie to the rest, but we really need a proper future war movie or series, not the Mad Max - Transformers mashup that Salvation was more like.

That it was lame aside from some quality Arnie humour?

Which are?

It worked ok as a junk food action movie. But it sucked balls as a sequel to Terminator 2, so it gets knocked down a mark. Also kick ass females in movies, especially a squad, are getting boring so another mark off. Characters instantly learning to drive and instantly learning to shoot straight? I'll go with concurrent sentences for these offences because it doesn't deserve 1/10.

3/10

Thought that would be it.

Honestly I didn't get that in this film.

Yes it's female led but it's not hamfisted girlpower like other movies have done.

Anything else?

Not sure what you're asking?

I liked the film..?

When you said a guess or two at issues I thought there would be more.

The female led, minority focussed themes was pretty much it mate, I wasn't planning to write War & Peace.

It wasn't 'Avengers Endgame - WOMEN ASSEMBLE!' level, but Sarah Connor's 'You're a womb! That's all you are!' repeatedly was telegraphing the end 'See! SEEE!!!! Women can kick arse as well as men' bit at the end. Which was pointless as everyone had reached that conclusion way back over 20 YEARS ago at T2 when SC had gone from ditzy waitress to kick arse warrior. If it'd skipped the preaching by just having SC save the girl as the obvious leader to come it'd have been a much better movie (it was still good). Arguably more so 'girl power' as there wasn't any need to fling it in people's faces, it just would have happened to be the leads were playing strong females, rather than shouting 'We're strong females!'.

Probably why Alien/Aliens and Ripley is still my favourite female lead action movie. Ripley just gets in there, kicks arse, expects (and eventually gets) the respect of everyone male and female due to her actions / knowledge, irrespective of her gender. Without ignoring she is female (especially noticeable in the Aliens extended edition where the fate of her daughter having died of old age whilst she was gone is revealed).

She said it once though..

The second time it was brought up was when it was contradicted and Dani was pointed out as being the leader.

There was very little preaching but meh. People have their perceptions and aren't likely to change.

Watched a review that pointed out Dani's ability to fight the Terminator compared to Sarah in T1. It's rather Rey.

You mean when she fought the almost completely destroyed Terminator right at the end?

Is this the 'but Chewie shot him!' argument again?

Sarah is also facing a way more destroyed Terminator in T1 and is running away terrified.

As if that "But Chewie shot him" argument was in any invalid.

Come on man... You're becoming the group that this conversation began mocking. It's beneath you.

Sarah Connor's character development takes place across a dozen years. This one across a few days.

Come on man... It's bad writing if nothing else. And why is it bad writing? Because the director had a hard on to push the strong independent woman angle with this character before it was due. We believe it no question with Sarah and Grace because the groundwork was done. I mean do you recall the shit he saying in the media?

Terminator 2 was the story of a young boy teaching two machines to be human, one being his bodyguard and the other his mother who had shed her humanity to become the very thing she feared. Singular, focused, nothing and nobody else matters but the mission.

Sarah Connor had every right to be a total badass in Dark Fate because she had been trained, she had been hardened. She earned that ability.

This is cringe. Think I'm done here.

Terminator Dark Fates biggest sin is recycling the very worn out premise of Terminator and Protector sent to the past to protect the future saviour. BOOOORRRRING. Made even worse at the scattering nods to the original films like it couldn't be it's own film. It then not only ignored the previous sequels like they were not worthy but RIPPED OFF elements from them. The Mexican Terminator was basically a TX, that Judgement Day is inevitable, that Terminators grow old, etc.

What I'd love is an explanation from James Cameron about killing John Connor the way he did. He was scathing for years about how Alien 3 dealt with Hicks and Newt and lessened his film, and yet there he was approving the same story approach for John.
