Feel free to add to the list. I felt like I was watching another series of Lost.
Agreed x1000. That was absolutely brilliant. :D

I can normally look past some silly things in shows or plot holes when it's minimal but there was a lot of issues with the first ep I noticed. That's not a good sign. Most of it is mentioned above but..

Main ones I found - Kind of quickly jumped into the "Terra Nova" world with little explanation of the old world and issues. Start of show was just confusing. Breakout of high security prison that is completely skipped over in 5 secs and just accepted. Was too easy for them to escape into portal. As mentioned the family is just one big cliche. Some of the dinosaur scenes were silly and ridiculous. Every scene that tried to advance the story was highly predictable.

Even said to myself when the Dad noticed that guy with the gun
walking around he'd save the leader and get himself a job in security that he wanted.

Felt like I was watching an Avatar remake at times and Stephen Lang just added to that. Plays the same character pretty much. I still found it midly entertaining at times and think it has some potential but to be honest can't see this lasting too long.

Also loved the young girl being smuggled through in the backpack. When she climbed out of it at Terra Nova her head was about the same size as the pack. It must have been like Dr Who's tardis in there.

So I did not get it as far as contacting 'back' to the future. Is it they cannot go back, but can communicate back?

That's the impression I got. The leader/grey haired guy said he hadn't told them (people in the future) about the Sixers because he couldn't be sure who he was communicating with when he communicated. So I'm guessing it's just text messages or something.

Caught the encore of it late last night on channel ten.
Its hooked my interest which is surprising seeing how I normally not big on sci-fi tv shows. Hopefully the series keeps up the good work it built in the first 2 episodes.

Seems like a pretty much carbon copy of the show 'Eureka', but a worse version (I quite like Eureka, especially the first couple of seasons). Just replace sciency stuff confusing the main character with dinosaury stuff and you're set.

Terrible show, simply terrible. I really wanted to like it, but i just can't.

Something kill the son already, my god. First ep he was all "oh i hope dad gets here, what if he doesn't make it, waaa waa" and as soon as the dad arrives he is all like "go and get ****ed dad"

But my favourite bit was when the girl ran away and the dinosaur caught her, yet she survived. Good to see dinosaurs are into critically injuring their prey and then leaving them there without eating them.

Second episode descended into complete crap.

My young kids love it, which is why I'm particularly unimpressed with the timeslot. (Even my 13 year old isn't up until 9.30 on a Sunday night ). I can only imagine that some really good drugs are provided free of charge to the people that schedule tv programs these days.
I will be well and truly in the crap when my family find out that I somehow stuffed up the recording last night. I dont think they will do another encore perfomance so the family will probably need to huddle round the laptop. ( I can plug it into the TV, but I probably wont be there when they want to watch it and I'm the only one capable of plugging anything into anything else ). Ahh the joys of parenthood.

I just watched the first two episodes and whilst i didn't mind it, i was a little disappointed with the twee, cliched storylines and the rushed character development.

You've got the atypical brave father who, in a matter of minutes, goes from wanted criminal to most trusted confidante of the leader.

Then there's the moralistic, caring mother who, like the father, suddenly becomes a close confidante of the leader.

Then we've got the kids.
Firstly, the typical rebellious emo teenage son with a heart of gold, then the somewhat awkward teenage daughter who somehow catches the eye of a handsome older guy (as is always the case with such characters).

It is good to see the excellent Shelley Conn getting a major gig.
She was wonderful in season one of RAW, but it's a huge step from a small Irish drama to a massive US series.

I'll keep watching, at least in the interim, purely because of the names behind the show, but i sincerely hope they improve the writing and character depth/development for otherwise it'll go the way of many other hyped television shows.
