Watched first episode. Certainly not A grade material, but better than B grade. Has potential given the scope of the idea, will continue watching for now...

Incredibly formulaic show.

I already sick of all the family drama crap and there has only been one episode.

Family drama, dinosaurs and science fiction - must have been spewed out by a computer.

Amazing that it was delayed so they could tune up the SFX when it's all just obvious green screen and embarrassingly bad CGI.

Watching Jurrassic Park and The Lost World the other night I have to say the SFX in those movies, despite being 18 and 14 years old respectively still shits on TN sfx.

It's interesting that the CGI/Animatronics of Jurassic Park (1993) stand better than much of the CGI we see today. Astonishing, really.

I'm in support of a Jurassic Park 4 if it actually has a different plot, but what else can you do with this type of movie.

As for Terra Nova I'll give it a go but won't go in with big expectations.

I thought it was solid enough, 7/10.

Kept me entertained, although the whole break out of the maximum security prison was perhaps the easiest thing I’ve ever seen and we were just meant to accept it given it took all of 30 seconds. And then when he just made a run for the portal, again, too easy man!! The Josh and Sky relationship happened in the blink of an eye.

As I said, I enjoyed it and it appears to have some promise so for the time being I’ll keep watching.

Been airing in the USA lately.

Did anyone else get the feeling that they blew the effects budget on the future scenes? The future scenes with all the buildings and such actually looked really good. The dinosaurs however, looked sub-standard.

I certainly do not mind it, though there are some questionable moments. Like how the father broke out of the maximum security prison so easily. Sort of a Fade To Black moment. And how did Natasha (the girl) survive out on her own with 3-4 of those 'slasher' dinosaurs gaping at her when she ran from the car?

Would give it about an 7/10. Enjoyed it, but some little issues.

I think they've set up enough characters and ideas to continue on for maybe 2 seasons (IE: The 6ers, building Terra Nova, pilgrimages, etc), but not sure if it will last much longer than that. Will watch the next few episodes.

I liked it. I don't normally watch much tv other than sport and business news but that's the first show I've enjoyed since Prison Break.

Big fan of the Jurassic Park movies so the dinosaur angle was the clincher for me. Only worry is that it will slow up a hell of a lot now. Good 1st episode but I can't see that amount of action maintaining.

"Sick of this overcrowded, smoggy existence? Then walk through the Time Tunnel over there into a tropical paradise where you can start your life all over again."
"It looks like Stargate."
"It's not Stargate."
"Does it work?"
"Uh....yeah, sure."
"Can you prove it?"
"Look...it just does, ok?"
"But there's no way of coming back or communicating between the past and the present?"
"Uh...it's complicated."
"Are there dinosaurs?"
"Like you wouldn't believe."
"Then why not go back a few million years later when the threat of dinosaurs is extinct?"
...
"You're holding up the line kid. Just keep moving."

Won't they all die once the asteroid that kills the dinosaurs hits anyway?

I think you discovered a major flaw in the plot.

A show about the world in 2140 odd would be better - they may as well have kept it at that. Agree with the poster who said that looked good yet the dinosaurs looked crap.

B-grade actors...C-grade script and SFX.

  • The rebellious son.....sigh, predictable
  • The brawny hero who falls 15 meters from the compound perimeter flat on his back and isn't even winded
  • The annoyingly smart attractive wife
  • The even more annoying smart attractive daughter
  • Cute kid wonders if the moon is going to fall on them but isn't freaked out by a giant dinosaur reaching down and feeding from her hands
  • Main actor runs along gangway to portal and everyone in front of him has parted like the red sea
  • Family sees real life dinosaurs and act like they've seen elephants at Melbourne Zoo
  • No characters with average looks
  • Heavy armour plated vehicles but the compound is made of wooden logs
  • Rocky outcrops that reach into the sky with waterfalls coming from the very top of them....errr where is the water flowing from?
  • Dinosaur grabs young bloke's leg and starts munching on it. Young bloke limps away like he has a corkie
  • Dad embarks on rescue mission and then they allow mum to tag along even if it means they both might die leaving the two daughters behind as orphans
Feel free to add to the list. I felt like I was watching another series of Lost.

I am a sucker for dinosaurs, so I watched. I like the premise.. but I cannot believe how awful the script is. Dialog is beyond cringe.

Won't they all die once the asteroid that kills the dinosaurs hits anyway?

That's 20 million years away.

From what I understand, the meteor may not even hit them at all.

They didn't go back in time in their own timeline, but rather warped into a different timeline, way back in the past. So who knows what will happen?

This is how they can get away with being there in the first place, and not be erasing themselves from existence or changing anything from the future. Y'know, like stepping on a butterfly might alter them being born.

Not the most elegant solution. Not sure how else you'd be able to create a back-in-time show without altering the future though.
