Ciaran or Kieran? I prefer Ciaran.

Whilst not a baby, my puppy's name is Luis Suarez :$

All baby names, especially female should have to pass the stripper name test: Mercedes, Saphira, etc etc

I was checking college football scores.

Seems my old college is now coached by Lovie Smith.

Of course, his real name is actually Lovie Lee Smith.

(I am on the right side, about 2/3 of the way along. Bottom tier. Wearing orange.)

I'm sure you all saw references to the fact that with the de-listing of John Butcher from Port Adelaide that there are now no players named John left in the AFL. This sad fact is indicative of the way names are going, a rock solid and once very common name like John is now barely used :(

I'd put a lot of that down to parents picking names slightly less common, and also the decreasing influence of Christianity in Australia (I presume the name's former popularity stems from one of the several Johns present in the Old and New Testaments).

Not that high on the terrible scale but definitely weird - Notre Dame college football player Equanimeous St Brown

A quick google search reveals its a mis-spelling of equanimous, which means calm and composed

I agree with your first point but I don't think John is perceived to be an overly religious name. I suspect it is simply considered too common, which is ironic considering how rare it is now.
