Last Night is the Worse I have seen this Year. Roos Got most of the Call and I saw the worse Call in my Life in the 2nd Quarter? Where Hale had a Ball go Through his Hand and the Idiot Umpire said it was a mark:mad:

Who else was annoyed?

I think the umpiring last night wasn't great, but I also think the Pies supporters were a little spoiled the week before, when against Carlton we saw quite possibly the best umpiring performance we will see this year.

Last week they let the play run, only paying the free kicks that directly effected a player, rather then little "soft" free kicks like the ones paid last night.

It's just frustrating that one week, the 3 umps can interpret the rules of the game one way, then the next week 3 other "muppets" seem to be umpriring under a different interpretation of the same rules.

Surely you umpire to the rules, not to an interpretation, but then again, that has been proved wrong time and time again.

Get ready for a pasting next week too, interstate sides at home get way more frees then we do, it's a statistical fact.

I think there should be one thread to bag umpires in, as Dave seems to make a new one every week. Having said that, I keep my umpire abuse at the ground.

the 50 against Heath Shaw still mystifies me, can someone shed some light?

He picked up the ball and threw it straight back to him, he's not even required to pick up the ball for the opposition - he was quite within his rights to just leave it his feet!

The umpiring was awful. The 50 against Heater was a mystery. North was paid a free kick in their forward line against Nathan Brown for interence in the marking contest, by not actually contesting the ball (no probs with that decision, the free was there). There were two against us that were just as obvious (Wood & Beams from memory), that the umps just let go. Completely baffling.

Umpiring was dreadful and probably cost us 4-5 goals.

*Shaw 50m penalty
*Didak not being allowed to play on to MacAffer all alone
*Hale being awarded a free kick for being weak
*Holding the ball decision at the bottom of a pile up 15m out, with no opportunity to move the ball on
*Wood not being paid the mark directly in front

... I could go on.

We won by 11 goals. This is hardly worth a thread.

Last week you bagged the umpires too Dave when their performance was universally lauded as the best umpiring in some time.

from memory there was a free against N.Brown on a half back flank for in the back when he barely touched his opponent and he well.. How about the Wells Dive also against N.Brown for a high fend off..

Nah, I reckon it's fine to complain about the umpires when we win... providing they're actually bad. They were terrible on this occasion, but yeah, Dave also started a thread on the umpires being bad against Carlton when they were actually very good... which muddies the waters considerably.

Looks like I'm on my own here, but...I don't think the umpiring last night was all that bad, and I didn't think the umpiring against Carlton was particularly examplary.

Yesterday they paid a couple they shouldn't have, against Carlton they didn't pay plenty that they should have. In neither case was the outcome terribly affected.

Dave, take a big breath and at least only complain about the umpies when we lose, please.

Are you kidding?
Umpires can be terrible if we win or lose.
Its lucky that we are a really good team at the moment and we dont let umpiring effect how we play the game.
We use to let the umpiring effect the way we play the game the last couple of years and i believe thats how Geelong get over us, once someone like Ablett gets the ball and gets an early free kick it makes the players either scared or unwilling to tackle because they think they will give away a free kick.
Umpiring against Carlton was good play keep on going for a while with no silly free kicks but against the Roos they are decisions that can turn matches but it is lucky we have such a good team and we were not playing against a confident experienced team.

Worst case of one sided umpiring i've seen at a Pies game this year.

And to be honest it's disappointing because they've actually been fairly decent to us this year.

FIVE GOALS from frees. Don't get me wrong, they were kind of there, but pay them BOTH ways.

That was the biggest problem. They paid frees that were there....for North. Not for us.

The Heath Shaw fifty was worse than the Slattery rushed behind, that umpire should be sacked.

I agree... one of the worst decisions I have ever seen

Before the camera moved scenes straight after the free was given you could see the ball on the ground(where Shaw should have left it) and the Saint player backs back more or less knowing Shaw was going to pick the ball up for him.

Shaw did nothing incorrect as he has the right to return to his mark if retrieveing the ball.

I say leave the ball on the ground in all instances now.

I actually thought the 50 was there against heath shaw coz he pointed to the mark before he gave the ball back but the free for Hale i think it was in the 3rd when he dropped it and the ump paid the mark got me absoloutly MAD and overall for the night the umps were terrible they tried to help them as much as they could when they went forward.

The umpiring was disgraceful. Gifted NM 5 goals.

The David Hale one against Pendles was by far the worst of the lot.

Then Jolly gets absolutely mauled in the goal square - no free and then how Dawes didn't get a free in the third in a pack marking situation got me absolutely stuffed.

We should've won by 100 points Sat night, and would've if we didn't p*ss fart around with the footy, try to tap the ball to players instead of grabing the prune and the umps trying to keep NM in the match paying stupid frees.

While i do agree that the 50 against Heater was pretty harsh i thought the umpiring was reasonable. Whether people agree with this or not is irrelevant, i just dont see how complaining about the umpiring in a game that we won by 11 goals is going to make me feel better?

Supports near me were consistently whinging about the umpiring on Saturday night. I didn't think it was that bad, sure, couple of howlers, but hardly thread worthy.
