The only good thing to come out of the night was my winnings out of the match. I put $20 on the hawks when they were $8.50 last week and then on Tuesday I put $10 on the hawks 1-39 paying $12. $290 in the sky rocket. goes with the $150 when the dees beat us and the $130 when North flogged us.
Carlton are only paying $3.50 now so theres not much value there.

Same here.

Easiest $85 return on $10 I have made since the $75 at $7.50 I made against Geelong.

I might become fulltime gambling against the AFC. Would make heaps of money at it.

Predictable as always.

We way too predictable... last night has killed it for me. its lifted a lot of pressure off me now and stress cos i now know we aren't a contender.. we are soft and pathetic.. we could miss the 8! our run home is tough!

We are gutless, pathetic, and selfish.

We let Roughead, Langford, Puopolo and Henderson (yes, ****ing HENDERSON) run rampant in their forward line.

Charlie Cameron cares about no one but himself, burning the ball and causing turnovers rather than passing off when needed, or taking unnecessary advantages that cost us goals.

Sloane gets tagged out of the game and his teammates don't care.

Everyone jumps up for the ball in a contest and no one stays back to crumb. Hawthorn had a field day with crumbs.

Perhaps some of our players need to focus less on their extra-curricular activities and focus on their game.

Rowey mentioned a word that sums it up

We do not hunt the ball
We do not hunt the player

If you want something in life, you have to hunt it. It will not come to you by standing and waiting.

I know what a failure to hunt the ball and the player looks like. I've supported Glenelg for 50 years.

We do not hunt success as a club

We need to fix this

I've felt this for some time. We like to stand around waiting to see what is gonna happen ! In stark contrast to say Dangerfield who makes 3 separate efforts to win the ball while most of the Crows are still deciding how it's all gonna pan out.

That was an absolutely horrible loss and I cant fathom how the coaches cant see what is seemingly obvious to everyone else. We are way too tall.
In the first 4-6 rounds of the season, for one reason or another we had at least 1 of those talls out. Tex round 1, Jenkins, Lever. Yes Otten played every game and did a pretty good job but the structure was the key. We had plenty of players running through the midfield with lots of run and carry. We played fast exciting football.

Then when all of our "best 22" talls were fit we decided to change our structure completely. We didn't have the guts at selection to keep out one of our previously proven best 22 talls or drop Otten in order to maintain the structure that got us unbeaten at the top of the ladder and everyone calling us unbeatable. Now Otten per se is not the issue. Its a great story that he's got back and he is a smart footballer (and one of the few reliable kicks in front of goal) but he is slow (not his fault, post injury) and provides little defensive pressure. He is not a like for like for McGovern. However the selection of Otten is an indication of everything wrong with the club. We would rather change a winning structure than drop him. We are too scared to drop a player who is playing reasonable football even if it is going to make us a better side. Otten getting dropped would be harsh on him but it is what has been required in order to maintain our game plan. But no, the structure and gameplan changes rather than make a tough call on a senior player/good news story. Mackay and Jenkins getting dropped and then getting recalled almost immediately - in Mackay's case, without playing a single second of reserves football. Gooch gets 1 game against the bottom side, does ok and is immediately dropped for Mackay who hasn't played a game. Soft selection decisions. Fully expecting us to drop Beech for McGovern and make us even more ridiculously top heavy than we already are.

Sop now we are too top heavy due to soft nice guy selection - so we have no defensive pressure in the forward line, we have less smalls running through the midfield, chasing, tackling harassing and therefore less defensive running to help out the defense. Less rotations through the midfield. All because we are too tall.

Stubborn and arrogant coaches with the gameplan. There is a template to beating Geelong that far worse teams than us have employed and been successful. But us, no we're top so we will win our own way, We don't need to tag Selwood. And when it's obvious that the game is panning out like every Geelong game in the past 2 years, we still don't do what every other club has done in order to beat them. There is a blueprint to beat us and I guarantee that the top teams will not be too arrogant to employ it in order to beat us. The only difference is teams like Freo and Brisbane cant maintain it for 4 quarters. So we have a big win against a crap side and think we are premiership favourites.

As For Sloane - wtf are the coaches thinking. Its been going on for weeks and will go on for the rest of the season. However our coaches have not come up with any way to counter it apart from, Sloane needs to get through it, when he's been shoved around a bit and frustrated give him 4-5 minutes on the bench with instructions to go out there and try harder. There is absolutely no support from his teammates. No blocking, no push and shove, no one willing to tackle or bump his tagger hard enough to hurt him and get in his face to show him that our best mid will not be treated like that. No talk from Tex to the umpires to highlight what's going on. And no change to structure to allow Sloane to break the tag. I've said repeatedly, isolate Sloane in the goalsquare with his tagger. He's a fantastic contested mark and guys like Howe would absolutely shit themselves 1 on 1 vs Sloane with a high ball coming in and guys like Eddie circling. But no, cant change the structure. And you know what, we are probably so tall that it limits where we can place Sloane to break the tag cause we would then have to put 2-3 of the massive, slow players we are currently playing on the bench in order to maintain our midfield rotations. It's laughable and embarrassing that the coaches cant see this, and have put us in a position where we have no flexibility match day.

I don't see us being a serious contender until we see some genuine structural and coaching changes. This game "should" be the straw that breaks the camels back (but so should the North, Melbourne and Geelong game and still no change.) Pyke's comments in the presser give me no faith that the club/coaches are willing to be ruthless enough to make this team a genuine premiership threat, after all, we wouldn't want to hurt Andy's feelings.... (Not a specific attack on Andy or saying he's solely the problem but his selection sums up everything wrong with the club)

Feels like Craigy, Sando and now Pyke are all cut from the same cloth.. I hope Pyke isn't contracted past 2018...
he has a lot to prove in the next 9 weeks and first 12 weeks next year.
The people that need to go ASAP are:
Justin Reid
Hamish Ogilvie
Phil Bunn
&
Scott Degabriele
The recruitment team.
Year after year they draft typical SOFT crows players.. the nice boys

2016 & 2017 we made two crucial errors... Not drafting Ryan Burton and not drafting Sam Powell-pepper (who was a NEED for our side)
SPP was a big bodied mid.. someone we have been craving for.
WE WONT MAKE THE TOP 4.. EXPECT TO BE ELIMINATED FIRST WEEK OF FINALS! ITS OVER
How would gov, knight, burton, powell-pepper and rockliff changed last night. I know we would be sitting at 10-3 win loss. All mistakes at selection and draft/trade. The question is: would we have played burton and pp? On current evidence, possibly not. Have some courage ffs afc. Also pyke needs some help in the box urgently.

after hearing luke hodges mid game interview, about how when clarko first started, he asked hodge to sacrifice for the team and play half back.
He said no, I want to be in the midfield cos thats where the best players play. Clarko said if you want to win, listen to me.

he uses hodge like a quarterback once you hear him miked up. the heat map makes this abundantly clear too.

To think that greenwood wouldnt even be getting a game right now if CEY didnt do his knee. how many more are like him? I saw this stat at the start of 2017, we are 2nd in the comp, behind the kangaroos, with the highest number of players yet to debut. we let perfect be the enemy of progress.

We are 6th for average age, yet 15th for average games played. We should have bit the bullet and pumped games into our youth when Walshy came, and cut all the deadwood. Blighty would have done it. We would have guys now approaching the 100 game mark. atkins, cey, lyons, greenwood, cameron etc etc

i mean eddie had to come out last year and publicly call for cameron to be released on the wings and midfield.

Time to bring a certain legend back to the club perhaps?

such a nonsense arguement. you don't know that we would be 10-3, we could be 0-13 for all you know.

We can't recruit every good player in the comp, this rubbish that our recruiting has stuffed up becuase there is a couple of players we could have got completely ignores all the good work they have done.

Same people that say "How did we let Burton slip by" and "Powell Pepper would be handy" ignore the picks like Lever and McGovern or the even more amazing out-of-nowhere success that is Hugh Greenwood.

Every time they showed Pyke in the box he was sitting there like a clueless muppet wondering why his only game plan wasn't working this time. You could see it in his face.
Yes he did have a look of Neil Craig about him in the box. Was hard to watch.

You must have missed our last month.

Not to worry. Dogs will play you back into form.
Bullshit.

We have been the masters this year of forcing teams to have their best performance for the season. Every winning coach against us post game has spoken words to the effect of "that's our best performance".

We are ****ing masters at it I tell you.

Whatever gameplan you had to beat us, bring it again. I guarantee it'll succeed again.

...and again, and again...

Why is our natural instinct to handball 5 metres generally backwards 5 times in a row to a player under more pressure. Who teaches this shit? Is it our midfield coach Campos or Pyke? It's mind boggling in its stupidity.

It's a game called pass the parcel.

Seems to me like your sounding like an apologist for the recruiters. The point I raised is that we needed players with immediate impact in a premiership window, Doedee and Gallucci are not that. The other main point was about lack of dare in selection and lack of dare in trade on a player such as rockliff. You never know, sometimes risks do pay off.

Ahhh hindsight. It's a wonderful thing isn't it. Even though 17 other clubs don't have either of Burton or Powell Pepper, it is always only the crows who are stupid. We've always been so shit at drafting blah blah blah

It was a disgraceful effort by our coaches and players.
What infuriates me is Pyke's press conferences. He continues to say we have *** learnt *** some things from this game.
Every bad loss he states this.
Then next game NOTHING changes.

Maybe he means he's learnt we're shithouse and don't have the cattle or coaching skills to do anything.
So 9 or so games to go, I recon we'll Win 3 to 5 max. So 14 and 8. That should leave us in our comfort zone. Might even be in the 4 with an away game to GWS.
They will annialate us by that stage. Then a home final with Bulldogs maybe. We might even win at home. Prelim guaranteed loss and a very successful year called as we went one step higher. Everyone keeps their jobs no changes in coaching personnel as we're on the rise.

Is my plan so out of touch? No, it's the players who are wrong.
