He was made to stand at the back and shut up though.
Do you seriously think that at a professional AFL football club they would've said to an assistant coach "Ay TD, just sit at the back of the box and stay quiet?"

Very unrealistic

1. He was sacked. He would have been sacked midseason but Sheedy has too much respect for him and didnt want the controversy. So he told Daniher to stand at the back of the coaches box and keep his mouth shut. He basically had no job apart from carrying the witches hats and the bag of balls at training.
That is absolute crud.

He was our VFL coach, that decision was made at the end of 2001 when we added Kevin Morris to our coaching group. That was his role in 2002, VFL and player development. He didn't have an official AFL matchday role. That did not change at any stage during 2002.

When we merged with Bendigo, he didn't want to move his family. He was already without a role with the AFL side for the previous 12 months, so he moved elsewhere.

Nothing change at any stage mid-year.

Pressure is on now. Look where the senior teams have finished at the clubs where TD has been a coach:

Ess 99 3rd
Ess 00 1st
Ess 01 2nd
Col 02 2nd
Col 03 2nd
StK 04 3rd
Stk 05 3rd
Car 06 ??

Obvious why he was sacked, only one Flag from 7 consecutive Preliminary Finals!
Could he be a good omen for you guys!

Love to see him at the club, has the proven track record.

terry daniher is like that bloke in the HBA ad ('ive still got my health'). he's too good of a bloke to hold grudges and kick up a stink, so it makes him very easy to move on.

he left essendon of his own voilition, and the way collingwood and st kilda sack people these days, its hardly a surprise hes been moved on. as i say, easy target. he will give carltons young players plenty of knowledge and more importantly confidence in their ability to play the game. hes been given kudos for tarrant, who was AA in 2003. any surprise hes gone backwards since TD's been out of collingwood?

if carlton can snag him, he will be a fine mentor, and a great clubman.

Reading the paper is about all you do you clown!

How can you say he is a dud coach? From reading the paper and finding out that he coached at 3 other clubs?

He is an absolute champion of the game and if he cant give some advice which the young blokes can take on board than ill eat my own @rse.

Good apointment for Carlton who in the past have had quite a few assistants from their own backyard.
Junkie is a good name for you. Implies you are a dope.

I said Daniher was a great player but when you have been moved on from 3 clubs i'm entitled to assume someone is a dud coach.

Great appointment by the blues TD was a champion footballer and a down to earth bloke who tells it like it is. hopefully he will instill some old fashion toughness and accountability in the young blokes . he won't tolerate any egos getting in the way of football performance.
He is just what the doctor ordered for the blues . :thumbsu:

As for all the TD knockers ...he has forgotten more about football than you will ever know

Correct. Don't be fooled people by TD's country twang and easy going nature. He puts that on for show.

I've heard him from the coaches box when he was coaching Essendon 2's and don't worry, he doesn't muck around.

Probably the first positive for Carlton in months.

My concern is that we have two more old style "go in hard" coaches who are unlikely to provide Pagan with new ideas or challenge his current methods, which don't seem to be getting the most out of many players. I think we need new ideas not more of the same. Whether Dempsey and Danniher are like this, I don't know, but from previous comments its seems to apply to Danniher.

While other teams are bringing in new ideas we seem to be going for more of the same. I was hoping for sports science type with some skills in psychology to help those players who don't necessarily respond to Pagan's philosophy and who could bring in some new ideas to Pagan, Liba and Mitchell. When was last time you heard Carlton doing some a little different in terms of training, tactics or team building tasks?

I think you will find that is his nature , nothing put on there.
TD will be fine for the Blues. He did okay at the Pies for mine and as for the other reasons he was moved on by the Pies and Saints , well....

Good value with his knowledge and success I reckon.
