Keaton Jennings

Never heard of him? Neither had I. But looks to have started his career well.

2 tests, 4 innings, 1 ton, 1 50. Averages 41.75.

Mahmudulla (Bang) . What's that? Keaton Jennings might fail? Well lucky household name Mehmudulla can come in and replace him if needed.

1) Jennings (Eng)
2) Shezad (Pak)
3) Purjara (Ind)
4) Khawaja (Aus)
5) S Marsh (Aus)
6) Neesham (NZ)
7) De Kock (S.A)*
8. S Broad (Eng)
9. D Perera (Sri)
10. D Steyn (S.A)
11. K Roach (W.I)
12. Muhmuddula (Ban)

First completed team. I'm happy enough with it
- Suspect top order to say the least but both openers still average above 40.
- Good middle order with Purjara Khawaja, Marsh. The first two average close enough to 50 and Marsh can be usefulish
- Best keeper batsman in the game in De Kock
- Neesham is hand with the bat, averages 39, and can fill in overs with the ball if needed. Averages 1.2 wickets a game so nippy.
- Steyn, Broad, and Roach is an A Grade pace attack
- Perrer averages 27 with ball which is a superb for a spinner
- don't know anything about the last guy

Thoughts
  • Don't mind the opening duo, do rate Latham a bit, should see off the new ball nicely, while Hameed's a serious talent
  • Experience of ding dong at 3, far worse options
  • Rahane's by far our best bat, should contribute massively
  • Nicholls and Van Zyl are debatable, but both have decent FC records. Van Zyl will contribute with the ball
  • Rahim's handy with the bat, good to have at 7
  • Like Holder, very solid bowler and lower order bat, meanwhile Khan's also a pretty solid bowler
  • Hazelwood and Herath will lead the attack. One of the best paceman, combining with one of the best spinners.
  • Sandakan could come in depending on the conditions.

Overall I think I have an okay batting order, none of them stars but none of them spuds. However my attack is world class and the best by far; Southee and Anderson are excellent new ball bowlers, Riaz brings pace and bounce, Ashwin is the best spinnet in the world and Shakib is the best all rounder in the world.

1. Matt Renshaw (Australia) (63.00)
2. Hamilton Masakadza (Zimbabwe) (28.93/29.56)
3. Gary Ballance (England) (39.25)
4. Ross Taylor (c) (New Zealand) (46.99)
5. Asad Shafiq (Pakistan) (41.02)
6. Moeen Ali (England) (35.03/42.22)
7. Shane Dowrich (+) (West Indies) (34.08)
8. Ravindra Jadeja (India) (26.50/24.07)
9. Mitchell Starc (Australia) (24.33/28.29)
10. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (India) (22.63/28.80)
11. Kagiso Rabada (South Africa) (14.11/21.76)

12. Dushmantha Chameera (Sri Lanka) (6.10/33.00)

Thoughts:
-The opening pair look quite shaky due to Renshaw's inexperience and Masakadza's poor batting record and out of his usual number 3 position, but banking on Renshaw to continue his fine start to his test career and bat long periods.
-The middle order of Ballance, Taylor and Shafiq looks solid on paper with all having solid records, without being spectacular but will do the job.
-Ali seems a really underrated all-rounder and can do a job with both bat and ball fairly solidly.
-Dowrich could provide some valuable late order runs with a half decent record for a number 7.
-The attack has good diversity with the 1 spinner and 3 seamers, all averaging in the 20's with the ball, which in my opinion makes it one of, if not the best available. Jadeja, Starc and Kumar all have good batting averages in the 20's which would provide a good tail.
-Finally, I think the new ball attack of Starc and Rabada would be near on impossible.

Pretty happy with this team.

Solid top order, AB, Haque and Khan average over 50, Nair and Handscomb are 2 good young bats and Burns isn't the worst opener, with 3 tons from 13 games. With Stokes coming in at 7 it's a good batting lineup.

Wagner/Philander have been 2 of the best bowlers in the world over the last 18 months, Taylor and Stokes are ample cover.
