Inzamam-Ul-Haq
iKDep.jpg
The heir to the throne of the greatest Pakistani batsmen, Inzamam seems to be remembered even now, only a few years after retirement, for his sizable presence, rather than his superb batting. Able to put away both pacemen and spinners, no-one can question his value as a solid (ha) middle-order contributer. And for the record, his true test average is over 50, because that ICC World XI game doesn't count.

Stephen Fleming

Stephen Fleming completes my opening batting partnership and is an early option for Skipper of my side. In a perpetually struggling NZ outfit, Fleming scored 7000 runs at an average of 40. Whilst there are still better openers out there, Fleming adds enormous leadership to my side, and helps me out by being a Kiwi.

Bill O'Reilly

ICLqN.jpg
Judged by many as the greatest spinner in the history of cricket, O'Reilly was a fearsome bowler. Importantly, his low bowling average came at a time when batting was king. This was a man who dismissed Wally Hammond ten times. This was a man whom Bradman called the greatest bowler he had ever face or watch. Keep in mind, too, the interruption of the Second World War, and that he didn't start playing Tests until he was 26. 144 wickets at 22.59 is a record that speaks for itself. Undoubtedly, O'Reilly is one of the greats.

Joel Garner

"Big Bird" was a part of the West Indies team who didn't lose a test series in 15 years. In 58 matches, Garner took 259 wickets at 20.98, making him statistically one of the best fast bowlers to play the game. Was capable of ripping the heart out of a batting lineup, and is a great acquisition for the Noobz0r XI.

Top pick, in my top 5 favourite cricketers ever. Superb captain and leader, and one of the few 100+ Test players that can claim they went out at their peak. Such an elegant player with a long and outstanding county career was well. The first player as a kid I saw using a GM, rushed out and bought one straight away.

And who could forget his ridiculously poor conversion rate of 9 tons/46 fifties. :thumbsu: 26/47 in non-Test first class matches, so WTF?!

I hope he changes his mind and becomes NZ coach in the near future.

Great captain. Decent player. Grossly underachieved.

Well there goes my Indian and Kiwi I was hoping would slide a bit!

Adding a Sri Lankan now.

Warnakulasuriya Patabendige Ushantha Joseph Chaminda Vaas
chaminda-vaas-retirement.jpg
The best pace bowler Sri Lanka have produced. Chaminda Vaas may not have the statistical greatness to match some of the top bowlers of all time but his average of 29 is more than healthy considering his home matches were almost always spin friendly wickets offering him little in the way off help from the pitch. Was also a very handy lower order batsman with a test ton to his name as well as 13 50's.

Andy Flower (wk). We don't need a Zimbabwe player, yet he's in, that's how good this bloke was. A shame he is now the height of evil, but what a player. Reguarly being thumped by an innings, kept wicket, batted around 4/5, captain in 1/3 of his Tests. 4794 runs @ 51.54, 151 catches, 9 stumpings, in 63 Tests. Averaged over 51 both home and away. Best score of 232* at Nagpur in 2000.

Surrounded by decent players this time around, he will achieve great things. By far the best cricketer ever to represent Zimbabwe. Averaging over 50, probably getting paid SFA, facilities nowhere near what the rest of the Test playing countries had, and willingly ends his career with a brave political statement at the 2003 WC. Still remember watching as an 11 year old at the time.

I know he wasn't in the Boucher/Dujon class of pure wicket keepers, but took on the role for the sake of the team and did the job admirably. Certainly not pretty at times, but now that he's down at number 6/7 for my team, there'll be plenty of time to work on that.
