Torz team certainly will be hard to beat. Especially as it appeals to those voting who only have recent times in mind. Something I probably should of thought about more when picking my team.

Not a knock on you, your team is fine. You could still win anyway, I'd rate yours a close-ish second so far. I just think it is hard to go past Torz's batting line up. Three of the best attacking batsmen of the modern era. Huge amount of runs between them. Throw in Sehwag as well. Then you have Lillee, one of the great fast bowlers of all time steaming in in for his attack. Ouch. Not so sure on Shane Bond. Great bowler, but only 18 tests? That could be his weak point

Shane Bond was my token NZ pick as per the rules. His stats are still great despite so few games. No doubting his quality as bowler (showed plenty of times in ODIs).

True that. But still, he's your weak point at this stage. He's going to be compared against the all time great fast bowlers. But considering everyone needs a kiwi, there will be a few weak points in people's teams. After Crowe, Hadlee, and Vetorri it gets a bit thin.

George Headley, will add a proper bio later but in short: referred to as Black Bradman, Headley's career was unfortunately held to 22 test matches by world war 2. Averaging 60, and 71 at number 3, Headley was the first great West Indian batsman.

Sir Len Hutton​

Standing shoulder to shoulder with Hobbs and Hammond as one of England's three colossi, Hutton was a ready-made machine. He had both immense concentration and terrific strokeplay. He, as David Frith put it, batted as if on the flattest pitch in the world, wherever he was - as an average of 56.67 testifies. Not only this, but he was also worthy of praise as a captain, and notable for being England's first professional one. Arise, Sir Len.​

STEVE WAUGH

When one thinks about Australian cricket, they think of none other than Steve Waugh. He will be captain of my unnamed XI and has gone down in history as one of the finest leaders this game has seen. His batting was gritty and uncompromising, the perfect foil to Sobers and Pollock; nearly 11,000 runs speaks for itself. Also an underrated bowler, 92 wickets at 37 a good record overall.

ARAVINDA DE SILVA

Time to pick a Sri Lankan, and a fine pick too. De Silva was an excellent and stylish batsman with an excellent Test record with 20 hundreds at 43, scored on some very challenging subcontinent pitches.

One of the game's best entertainers, de Silva possessed the strengths of many of the tallest short run-scorers: unruffable technique, strong at cutting and hooking, an unrepentant attacker. His record is unrivalled among countrymen, his place in history secure after a match-winning century in a World Cup final. He stands 5ft 3 1/2in and arguably there has not been a better smaller player. His enthusiasm was amazing: he was a virtual ever-present in the Sri Lanka side and also played first-class and club cricket in England, South Africa and Australia.

Shaun Pollock​

Is there a greater cricketing dynasty than the Pollocks? The world was deprived of seeing the older Pollocks ply their trade too often, but they definitely weren't deprived of seeing this shock of red hair charging down the pitch. Shaun Pollock would comfortably fit into any team for his bowling alone - for a bowler of such economy, his strike rate is surprising and his average is, of course, excellent. And he was no slouch with the willow either, to the point where you could argue he never got the chance to show as much with the bat as he could've. Pollock adds a great deal of both skill and versatility to my team.​
