WAUGH, HUH? WHAT IS HE GOOD FOR? EVERYTHING!

Sorry, mate: Waugh reveals to a clearly distraught Dravid that he had been recruited by Stevemac

The West Australian, 29th October, 2012

Steve Waugh, recently appointed captain of the as yet unnamed Test XI constructed by billionaire playboy thorne89, held his first press conference today, flanked by his boyishly handsome chairman. Waugh appeared relaxed and was excited at the way the squad was shaping up.

"Playing for Australia was special. But this is on a whole different level. To get the chance to play with some of the greats of the game like Sobers, Dev and Pollock, it's a dream come true; even for myself."

And what of rumours that Sydney Barnes had been sidetracked on the way to Australia? "Sydney didn't realise you could fly to Australia now. He's somewhere in the Pacific, but we'll find him eventually. Guys with test bowling averages of 16 don't come around everyday; he's a vital member of the team."

Barnes had raised eyebrows as an early selection in the draft, but thorne89 was quick to ease the fears of fans who did not know much about the legend. "I think it's fair to say Sydney is adaptable. In fact, he took over 4000 league wickets at an average of around 6; he's got talent. He feared no batsman; Viv Richards won't know what hit him."

When quizzed upon how the two remaining first XI spots will be filled, thorne89 was typically cryptic; something that gives him an almost Bruce Wayne-like aura. "We've got players in mind to fill those positions. They have been contacted and are very keen to join this growing community."

One thing is for sure; this XI is one sure to be creating headlines both on and off the field.

How did I miss that?

Played for them during the Safa's apartheid years under a different name only to return for South Africa 20 odd years later. It is known.

In all seriousness though I'm just hoping Mark Haslam falls to me.

I wouldn't take that risk. Someone might read his stats wrong and think he averages 4 with the ball and 122.5 with the bat.

Fred Trueman

Trueman is a statistical marvel. He was the first bowler to take 300 wickets in test cricket with an average of 21.57 and SR of 49 (Best figures of 8/31). Though the most amazing part of his statistics is his first class career where he took an astounding 2304 wickets including 126 five-fers and 25 ten-fers!
Known for his genuine pace and ability to both swing and cut the ball, he had the ability to tear through a batting lineup. The best example is his debut match where he helped to reduce India to 0/4, finishing with his aforementioned best figures. Trueman also fills my quota of English players.

I've actually gotten into that show a bit more lately.

When the promotions came out, I hated it. I had already decided upon it.

I f***ing love it. Prefer Community as an overall show but no show makes me laugh as often and as hard as Modern Family does.

Great pick, btw. Suggested Trueman to somebody else. :p Not sure if I can take him as seriously because of the look-a-like there.

I love Community as well. Haven't watched season 3 yet though. I've just been catching random episodes of Modern Family on foxtel, considering getting the DVD's if they're cheap enough and watch the whole thing in order.

Who else was sending PM's? That's my thing. ;)
