Test Cricket Eras Draft

Nah, but the best team here deserves to win.

I was planning on running an actual season where the best team should perform best.
It's not like it's going to be a knock out cup.

As a result of all you ****s stealing my prized and well thought out prospects, I've had to rethink my pick for this generation... I already have a fast as **** spearhead in Thomson, and a Spinner in Grimmett, with some all-rounders in Simpson, Sinclair etc... So I need a controlled and leading bowler who can also do well with the bat. I had picked out 5 bowlers from 3 nations, but to provide variety and accuracy, I've chosen to go with... Warnakulasuriya Patabendige Ushantha Joseph Chaminda Vaas, aka: CHAMINDA VAAS!

  1. W.G. Grace (ENG)
  2. Sid Barnes (AUS)
  3. Viv Richards (WIN)
  4. Clive Lloyd (WIN)
  5. Jimmy Sinclair (RSA)
  6. Neil Harvey (AUS)
  7. ---
  8. Bob Simpson (AUS)
  9. Chaminda Vaas (SRL)
  10. Jeff Thomson (AUS)
  11. Clarrie Grimmett (AUS)
Wacky Tiger, your move! :thumbsu:

Danger in Texas... Where the **** is my review?

Here we go:
BoshtrichBurger

WG Grace
Jimmy Sinclair
Clarrie Grimmett
Sid Barnes
Neil Harvey
Bob Simpson
Clive Lloyd
Viv Richards
Jeff Thomson
Chaminda Vaas

Reasonable, yet not stand-out. Grace was a STEAL at pick 8 in the before 1910 category (some rate him as the 2nd best ever behind Bradman), however other than King Viv there aren't too many players that catch your eye. Yes, Thomson was a quick as ****, but he didn't have the best average. Grimmett is a great spinner, but he's only okay compared to some other teams. The 'cool factor' is definitely there, however, with Clive and Viv making for a cool, calm and collected batting lineup. I like the WPUJC Vaas pick just because of the name.

Surely my line-up offers balance... YOU COULD'VE MENTIONED THAT!!!

I'd like to think that my draft has mainly been picked on quality over quantity. Whilst that may not resonate very well into a sim game and whilst I can probably pick a similar player with a superior batting average you got to go best avaliable.

So whilst I really can't stand him in the combox there is little to no doubt he's the best pure glove man to play the game.

A little surprised he lasted through the 80's and now 90's. I'd like to welcome the leader of my sledging team

Ian Healy

Marklar_33 now I reckon to start the 2000's

I don't like these first picks ;)

But still I mean, the best team on paper should win. The sim can do anything. In drafts and stuff, the best team wins, but the sim could make a strong batting side collapse against a weak attack.

My team is now:

1. Arthur Morris
2. Douglas Jardine
3. Ian Chappell
4. Greg Chappell
5. Syd Gregory
6. Vernon Ransford
7. Bert Oldfield +
8. Ted Dexter
9. Anil Kumble
10.
11. Craig McDermott
12.

So we have 2 more picks to go?

Correct. Bat fairly deep there

1. Geoffrey Boycott
2.
3. Stan McCabe
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Clyde Walcott
6.
7. Audrey Faulkner
8. Ian Healy +
9. Alan Davidson
10. Harold Larwood
11. Dennis Lillee

12. Charles Turner

Pretty happy so far. With Faulkner averaging 40 with the bat he can bat at 7 allowing Healy to come in at 8. A couple of blokes I would have been really happy with went 1 or 2 picks before me :( I'm looking at you @BostritchBurger ;)

Syd Gregory and Bert Oldfield batting ahead of Lord Ted?

5 Steve waugh
6 Adam gilchrist
7 Wilfred Rhodes
8 sir wes hall

I regret taking spofforth ahead of trumper, ive been screwed over with the draft order although I can't complain after getting bradman. Not sure whether to take a batsmen or spinner with my next pick.

You greedy prick.

Ever since you took Ames I'd planned to take sanga, at this pick, I could of taken gilchrist last decade.

Michael Clarke

I nearly picked Clarke, but Sanga's done it for longer. The keeping didn't even come into it either!
