Interesting to see, What sydney want from this trade. Clarke and first round pick i ok with it. We dont do well in first round pick anywhere.

Clarke and a first rounder? For a 27 year old?

Not sure that's the sort of trade we want to be doing for where we're at currently. We need talls, not midfielders.

I read that with Swans new trading restrictions, the maximum a player can earn after being traded is 350K. Not too many players are going to accept that. I'd like him, but we'd have to give up our first round, which is a big no. Either use the first rounder to try and get Dixon, or use to to draft a KPP. If we can find another way to get him, I'm all for it.

We should get him.

So then we can listen to the same idiots harp on about the age of our list and how we don't play youth.
No one complains that they want Mundy or McPharlin or Johnson out of the team at the expense of younger players.
It is thought by some that the fringe players in our 22 could be replaced by players in the 2's that look to have more skill and talent.
i.e Weller could come in for Deboer and add more run and attacking flair and better disposal.
No one has ever said that the better older players on our list should be dropped in favour of a younger player.
Jetta would undoubtably add run, speed and skill through the midfield which is what most of us agitating for change are saying we need.

Under no circumstances should he get our first rounder. Guys like Greenwood and Christensen went for picks in the 20s. Jetta is not worth more than them.

If he nominated Freo, then Sydney can take our second rounder. It's maybe a bit in our favour because of our ladder position, but stiff shit for them.

Our ruck stocks are Sandi on the cusp of retiring. Griff not what he was after his knee and no longer a long term prospect .Hannath just not up to it . Moller a string bean a mile of AFL and Apeness a kid with a dodgy knee and more a forward than a ruck.
Our best prospect to replace Sandi is Clark .Why would we trade him.Who would you replace him with?

Leuenberger?

Get it done Freo. Hill/Jetta/Weller/Sheridan/Crozier and throw in Langdon too. If only Josh Simpson had been a little more mature.

That's the kind of attacking flair needed to beat the Hawks.
Hope josh simpson get his head around, maybe rookie list.

Rather go after Sam Reid. But that'll never happen with his contract. Having Lewis Jetta and Hill would be sensational, but do Freo really need to keep going for the next best ahead of KPPs ?

I don't think there is any quality KPPs going around is there?
If not, It's an interesting question: Would you rather a Guaranteed Gun Running player or an average KPP (say another Tabaner or Silvangi)?

There's positives and negatives to both sides. I think with Trades and Free Agents there is a large element of risk, that can turn out to be either a good (Lake, Dal Santo) or bad (Sylvia, Q Lynch) trade. For example, the Nick Malceski trade was suppose to be a really good thing for the Gold Coast.

For what its worth, if we could gain Jetta for the same money we wasted on Sylvia, then I'd love to see that.

I spoke to the swans on their board... They are happy with pick 15-18. Basically our 1st Round pick. I would want him and here is why. Ignore the war dance and his 2014 grand final effort. The swans won the 2012 flag with a crap forward line, guess who was the leading goal kickering swan that year? Jetta on 45 goals. Now imagine him with Walters and Ballas? Hes no KPF but hes a capable goal kicker. We can find a key forward with our 2nd pick or use Apeness.

Due to the Swans trading restrictions this year, end of Cola and the fact that 2 of their forwards are likely taking up about a qtr of their cap they don't have much wiggle room.

They need to free up cap space because Cola is finished for them and with the new draft system in place they need draft picks to make up the points for the two academy players they want.

Sydney are already on the back foot with this trading period, everyone knows their circumstances.

99% sure they won't trade for Zac Clarke. They are limited to trading in only players on less than $350k a year. And Zarke wouldn't move for that.

So they need to trade out some players and are chasing draft picks for their academy players.

Jetta apparantly has asked for a trade back to WA. This again puts them on the back foot. After this weekend it's doubtful that he'll want to go to the Weagles. So that leaves us.

2nd rounder should do. Swans can except that or risk losing him in the PSD for nothing. If they lose him they get no draft picks in return and they risk not being able to make up the points to draft their academy players.

Top this with the fact they while Jetta would be a nice addition to the team his signing is hardly an absolute must happen.

The shoe is on our foot and Sydney are leaning over a barrel.

1st rounder should be for a KPF McCarthy, Shulz, Dixon.

Same, problem is at what cost..
If he wants to come home and Sydney's hand is forced from salary cap concerns then he is worth no more than a second rounder.

Sydney fans may scream, but that's the other side of free agency. Getting expensive free agents not only leaves you in difficult salary cap position, meaning you have to cut players, but drives down the trade value of players because there are more zero-value (in terms of picks) players on the market.

To put it simply - if you get Franklin for zero picks you can't expect a fair trade on Jetta.

Why not? They'll get what Jetta is worth in a trade. Having Franklin on their roster means bupkiss in relation to this. What was Jetta worth before they got Franklin? I suspect it's not much different now.

What is Jetta worth?

The expected value of a 27 year old footballer who wants to return to his home state is slightly above zero in terms of picks and players.

Why is no one thinking of Jake carlisle, hey you never know who thought that RTB will be coaching us a while ago when Harvey was doing good !!! But we did the impossible !!! So never know.

I read an article where Brad Lloyd already discussed this and said it's unlikely Jake Carlisle will want to come to Freo.

If we can get him somehow without giving up the club's first pick I'm all for it.
First pick will be traded for McCarthy (as part of the deal) or used. We'd have to trade a player if we wanted Jetta I would think.

GWS won't be going to give him up easily. They will demand freos 1st round pick for this season and next season.

If Freo want him now is probably the time to strike, if RTB thinks he is the one might have to pay overs, I think a lot depends on Appness, as McCarthy is more your second forward. The club have had Appness in the system two years now , should have some idea if they think he can take the next step as the big key forward.
