It's kind of ironic how the bowlers in line for international selection are never fit while the the good honest shield players are fit all year round.

Australian batsmen cannot play spin. That Zufi Babar guy ripped through us in the UAE bowling dead straight deliveries and we couldn't cope. That's our Test players.

But we only have a few spinners with decent stats in the county? Doesn't add up.

There is only one team that plays regularly on wickets with assistance for spinners.

Does anyone know what dates we play Sri Lanka? I just checked cricket Australia and many other sites and not one even shows us playing them.. Have I missed something? I'll be over there at the time and planned on going

It hasn't been formally announced yet. FWIW, Sri Lanka is touring England/Ireland from May to July.

All-Rounders: Peter Nevill, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell
Bowlers: James Pattinson, Jackson Bird, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Steve O'Keefe

I think it's hard to omit him from the entire squad when he took the most wickets in the last test played.

I think Handscomb's season puts him up there. It'll be him or Bancroft.

Perhaps but he was really poor before that Test, and at the start of the Test. As in "get him off" poor. I don't know if we can trust him to keep a line.

That's laughable in my opinion. Rewarding mediocrity.

He won around 6 games off his own bat this summer across all 3 formats as a 22 yo, captaining his state to their first shield final in 20 years. There's a ton to like about him, pretty good option to be taking on tours etc, will only help him improve.

Don't get too hung up on his average, that's not why CA rate him. Average reflects his inconsistencies not his great innings' he's played in his short career. He's a guy they want to help develop, he's not being picked because he is 36yo who dominates state cricket.
