In all honesty, even though the Crows sucked early last year with Tex in the team, there still seemed to be this feeling that anything could happen when he was on the end of a passage of play. In that Carlton game where he did his knee he was on fire. Even though 2013 sucked, we would have made the finals with Tex in the side.

I think also what is easily forgotten is that we lost Tippett, Nutter was finished and Porps was getting on as an AFL player. Which meant Tex was so important to us, hence losing him cost us big time.

If you look at the games we lost to the Power, Tex makes all the difference.

I think they decide the telecast prior to the season starting so they wouldn't have known at the time that Tex would be potentially back in round 4 of the SANFL.

Yes you are correct, but if I was a producer at C7 I would be asking the Club to almost "guarantee" if he is playing and then change the game shown to the Crows reserves.

Ratings rule in TV world, C7 choked IMO big time. A producer at 7 should have made an executive decision. FFS its not that hard to change a televised game after all they are all in metro Adelaide. At most 1 hour difference from deep South to deep North.

Glad Tex is returning, annoyed that I can't attend. I'll be at Oakbank's Groovin' The Moo that night. If any of you make it down there, match report and photos would be appreciated. :D

EDIT: Damn, just realised I can't even go the week after to see Tex at Clare... Bought tickets to the Star Wars marathon for that day. :(

We don't yet know that he is definitely playing, so why would a tv exec make this decision? Plus it is a different time slot to the game that is being televised this week, so would need the cancellation of several programs on Friday evening.

I'm fairly confident you have seen Star Wars before but not Tex after an ACL.:p

What are the boards expectations on Tex getting a semblance of match fitness back? I reckon it may take quite a while for him to feel fit and firing (and confident)...

He's probably been running more than anyone on the training track lately.

Yeah, and keep in mind that im not a footballers bumhole, but that doesnt equal match fitness necessarily, does it?

Plenty of material out there about regaining match fitness. Won't get that until september.
So when do we actually play him??? I think we will play him early, but when is too early?

It will take a while, it depends on how his body feels, how the knee goes and how he performs..
String a few good goals/marks/games together and his confidence will grow quicker..

I know it's just training, but he looks so sharp when I've seen him train..
You would not even pick what he has been through, looked like a machine with movement, mobility, ball handling, long goals from outside 50m..

I think as soon as he can run out an sanfl game he should come in... If the knee swells etc it will mean longer in the twos to regain that match fitness...
They would be simulating match intensity at his training to try and get this to the required level quicker.
Lets hope we see him sooner rather then later in the AFL

Ask brad crouch.
He wasn't running alot though was he?

For me, Tex has always played a ton of minutes when in the team. Had one of the highest TOG%'s.
He'll get match fit playing matches. Its more about his confidence in his body at SANFL level before he jumps up.
The moment he says I'm ready Sando - he'll be put back in.

The only game plan the Bays had last week end was to do a hatchet job on the players who were killing them. Crude, aggressive, hack tackles and behind the play sniping. I would hate for some would-be hero to re-injure Walker. Tex can certainly look after himself, but there's no accounting for what some hapless hack will do on the spur of the moment. Stay aware Tex!
