I for one am not calling clare a shithole...
Just putting a veiw forward that the difference in risk from tex s point of veiw is probably marginal.
The clare oval could be an awesome deck but i doubt it would at the same level as adelaide oval.
I for one would think he would get more out of a game against the dees at adelaide oval rather then against the power reserves at clare.
Would be a better game for him to return then what will be a very tough game against the pies.

The Clare deck may not be the same condition as Adel oval however what is the comparison to Glenelg oval and other sanfl suburban grounds

Not picking fights but Clare and it's oval is not 'some shithole' - it's a country ground. Many Clare and Barossa people make a big effort to see the Crows play each week so be polite. And if Tex's knee can't handle a country ground then I agree with pjcrow - he's not ready. And to quote him either he's ready or he's not. A game on the ground at Clare would be a good test, then take it from there - either another week or two in the SANFL or a part game against the Pies - we'll see. Quite frankly it will depend how he pulls up today knee and confidence -wise - and he has a great surgeon and team behind him who collectively will make the right decision.

I love country people. Especially the lay-deees.

He looked very confident in his knee last night he crashed some packs, tackled, was not afraid to get in there. In fact even did a move that was similar to how he hurt it landed fine.

If Tex gets a say he'll wanna play against the Dees cos he wants to beat his mate Bernie!

Doctors and selection panel will be the ones to decide if he's in or out.

I'm just hanging out for some news about how his knee pulled up. Usually get some minor swelling after your first proper hitout after coming back. None at all would be fantastic.

Was interviewed on MMM and said he felt great

I think most ppl are saying that considering where the twos are playing next week the risk is similar then being put back into the A grade... Worthy discussion i think.

Normally id agree with you but im leaning towards having him play melb tbh

Thats exactly 100% correct mate, if Tex was playing say playing West at Richmond Oval, thats fine for him to be playing a second game in the twos.

But given all the scenarios, I think it is best he plays at AO ie against Melbourne.

I am 99% certain the Club will make the decision to play Tex in the two's, I just feel that it would be better for him to play against the Demons.
I know all about ACL's etc as I had a mate who had one, so I know why it is best for him to play a 2nd week in SANFL and why it is, I dont need anyone explain why etc.

But a "soft" game against Melbourne, where he gets a feel for the game and the pace IMO is better suited then a "finals" like game against the Pies. The speed in that match will shock and surprise him, compared to playing in a strong team against the Demons.

I am more worried about Tex's first game (and third overall) against the Pies then his second game in the country.

Didn't tex himself say he wanted to play 2 sanfl games?
yes ....and 2nd games are normally downers for most players

Plays SANFL and gets to play SANFL over the bye

So why are posters entertaining the idea of him playing against the Dees when the great man has already ruled it out?

wishful thinking ....obviously everyones keen to have him back in the Crows

But one game is not enough and the pace step up is appreciable

So what's wrong with investing another 2 SANFL games (1 AFL game) if when he comes in against a tough opponent in Collingwood Tex is cherry ripe, confident, and in-form?

Tex was ready three weeks ago. They gave him the full 12 months as a precaution.

The knee is clearly fine. It's now about form and match fitness.

I reckon he'll get more out if playing against the dees than the Port seconds. Suit him up next week.

With everything that has gone on with Tex's progress, there is no way he will play against Melbourne.

I am just speculating the merits of why it may not be as bad an idea.

I do hope Pods plays though in his return game, he needs that second big forward for Frost to take.

I don't mind him playing in the SANFL, but I really don't want him playing on some shitty country grade oval out in Clare.

I don't want to put any pressure on him, but usually when you watch a guy come back from an ACL they look rusty and lacking a bit of confidence. Tex looked fantastic and didn't seem to be lacking in any confidence at all. Hasn't lost any agility and hasn't lost any distance on his kick.

Would not be surprised at all if he comes back into the AFL side and starts kicking bags of 3 or 4 right from the word go.

We all acknowledge that Tex is physically right to go however imo People on here are either ignoring or under-estimating the mental hurdle a player needs to get past that completes their return

friday night was a terrific milestone, the fact that he pulked up well is another tick however Here on in it's all upstairs for Tex and will largely determine when he comes back

Sando has always been confident that Tex had done the work also the fact that he is such a natural footballer gives me confidence that he can still influence games this season

Just heard a snipet of his Ch7 interview, id say he will be playing in Clare next weekend. People here complaining about ovals and even Port snipers are just being silly.
