As someone who has been througha number myself and we have seen our fair share of ACL's unfortunately @ the AFC, at this point it won't make much of a difference one way or the other, Rehnny wasn't slumming it back at Westies too often. If they go again, they go again it doesn't matter much what patch of grass it is on. Personally i'd rather AFL footballers getting injured playing AFL footy than some meaningless SANFL game.

He looks as good as anyone coming back and if he does't show any sign of soreness and instability by now then you'd suggest he's done all that he could and he should be right. But 1 more SANFL game now won't make one iota of a difference.

If you have a forward line of Tex,Pods, JJ and Lynch they are going to need some quality defenders back there because the ball is going to be coming in there a lot.
Yep, that's why I said they might switch him back..
If they all play, that's a lot of talls to cover..

Be interesting if he holds his nerve and leaves the responsibility on some slightly under sized and inexperienced players down back..

This is spot on and given all the other variables involved like

Melbourne then the bye then Collingwood.
Playing in the country.
Ability to sub him out or play him as a sub.
First game against Collingwood
Opportunity to gel with our forward line against a weaker opponent etc.

Do you know it is sub-standard?

If so, we should forfeit next weeks game against Port as not worth risking any player!
I have a friend who lives in Clare, and claims it is a very poor surface for AFL players. I hope he's wrong. I do admit I haven't actually seen it myself.

I think I heard Sando say that there would be discussion whether all of Lynch, JJ, Pod's and Walker can play in the same forward line/team. I would say following Walkers excellent rehabilitation and great comeback in the SANFL Friday evening, play him against Melbourne, but Lynch, Pod's and JJ are all in good form at the moment and don't deserve dropping. That is the dilemma. I personally have reservations regarding playing all four up forward. I have no idea what the answer is or will be. It would be good to get an AFL game with his team mates into Tex before the Collingwood game. Perhaps Shaw out with Pod's being the swingman and having some stints in the backlines if Rutten is not ready to go, and going forward when JJ goes into ruck?

I agree. The knee is either good to go now , or it's not. The issue is whether he can run out a game. Which I would think he can, more or less.

Wow. Just wow.

Just about every AFL ground (bar Manuka) is a top quality surface and we wont to risk one of our best assets in a trial game on a shitty ground.

This is so true, played the swingman at Geelong well and took a big grab in the dying seconds of todays game.

Pods and Tex deep, with Betts at ground level.

Laird/Wright providing further pressure.

JJ and Lynch running up and back providing transitional targets.

As long as we don't play stupid football with crap delivery we should be able to make it work.

If we were playing the Pies this week, I would actually say give Tex another run in the SANFL it was played at a descent ground, but with all the variables in play, he IMO should play.

He has done more running and endurance training then probably most of the team over the last 3 months.

You ask for a lot - good delivery. lol:p

As long as Tex and Pods lead in opposite directions it leads to a one on one contest.

I presume Tex has been training with the main group for the last month?

With the buy the week after, you'd think if Tex play SANFL this week - he will play 3 SANFL games and them come back for the Collingwoid game.

It's not about leading in opposite directions

It's more about staggering your leads and creating space for each other

Tex has been training with the main group for well over a month

With only a 5 day break between the final SANFL game and Collingwood game.

I'd rather he played v Melbourne, blow off the AFL cobwebs and get a decent break to overcome sore spots ready for the Pies.

He will be as fit as anyone given the amount of running he would have done.

So would I but just offering an alternative should he not play AFL this week.
