Glad I don't have to make the decision - I see strong arguments either way.

However, I now lean to the "play him in the AFL" answer.

He is fit and strong - raring to go. Let him feel his way at AO, with his new forward group, with decent (hopefully!) delivery of the ball. Then a week off and have a crack at the Pies.

As posters on here have said, it will take him a while to find his feet at AFL level, so let's get the process started!

can't argue with that logic ......theirs arguments on both sides

yeah I'm leaning this way too, I think its a pretty big risk to bring him straight in against Collingwood. As bad as everyone says Melbourne is, he's still going to get in better touch with the pace of our game playing them than the Magpies and Westies IMO.

(inb4 someone says "what is the point of having a reserves team if it doesn't prepare our players for the AFL?")

I agree. He plays.

The way I came to this conclusion, was taking a top 3 player at another club, and wondering what I would expect them to do.
I would expect the Saints to play Reiwoldt, Freo would play Pav, The Pies would play Cloke.

Guys of this calibre just don't play many in the 2nds. If he's fit to play, he plays in the 1sts.

*in before someone gives examples where I'm wrong....

Good to see Tex on his way back. Pretty keen to see which team they decide to play him in this wknd. Personally i think if he's 100% healthy there's no reason they shouldn't bring him back against Melbourne. For the next 12 months or more the biggest thing for Tex is getting his confidence back, and well what better way to start that off than against Melbourne at home.

Wow tex has really matured as a person and a leader and I loved the way he handled Rucci on more than one occasions

If there is a silver lining to Tex's 12 months injury I think it has really matured him and given him great perspective and IMO with a bit if luck can still be a better footballer

Funny thing that Tex and Jaench mature up now that Bernie has gone.

I loved his line - talking about his pace.

Rucci was niggling away at his loss of pace and tex said, he didn't think he lost any. He then asked Rucci if he was at the game Friday night and saw that he lose some pace, Rucci replayed with "no" - as quick as a flash, Tex said "why, what did you do, were you not allowed in"
Loved that line also - handled rucci beautifully.

Put him in against Melbourne....if it turns out that we keep all our other talls in and Tex unbalances the side then we can still beat melbourne but beating Collingwood (our bogey side) is always tough and we can't afford to get our structures wrong in that game

he needs game time alongside betts and pods and remember there's also a few others he hasn't played with matt crouch, hartigan etc

Check his discussion with Rucci from 2:05 :D:thumbsu:

Rucci is such a snake, the whole time he just wanted Tex to say he's fully ready to go so he can then write his angled story if he's not selected when he said he's ready..

What a knob Rucci is. Good to see Tex can see straight through the tosser!

Nothing magical, but probably physiological and emotional. A lot changes around this period of life if you have a head on your shoulders. He gives off a more rounded, reflective persona than he did back in the day.

Perhaps if we go back several years, but not six months. Tex has been a well-rounded and mature adult for quite some time now.

He thinks Tex shouldn't play - fair enough - but the way he is hysterically crapping on about it all day yesterday and today you'd think Tex did his knee 2 weeks ago.

I don't think Tex needs the extra pressure of the most respected Crows mouthpiece in SA talking about stats on re-injuring ACLs. Just shut up Roo.

I know you read this forum Michaelangelo, and I just wanted to say that I'm yet to encounter one football supporter, either on our side or the Power's, who has even a modicum of professional respect for you, and that you are universally regarded as the journalistic equivalent of herpes.

That is all.
