Could you imagine the excitement if he was able to return against the Pies on Thursday night????
Certainly exciting and tex would be desperate to play that game but I'd wait till a more low profile fixture to take a bit of the pressure and intensity off.

True, but I think his presence will make a massive difference to how Pods performs and to our forward structure.

At the moment teams are double tagging him in marking contests, Tex demands and commands on his return the best or 2nd best defender. The rippling effect will allow JJ more freedom IMO.

Can't wait to get to the bay and watch Tex run around. He has done a mountain of training will be in good shape just needs confidence and touch.

I was watching one of the footy shows on Foxtel, I remember hearing that what players do is that they look out a lot for a player returning after injury so that they can get their first kick and disposal out of the way very early on.

As far as I am concerned, AO will get its unofficial baptism when I see Tex kick a goal and he celebrates with that cocky swagger that we all know and love.

You are obviously a passionate Crows man, which game would you rather see on Friday given if Tex is playing???? Assuming all were played at the same time.

I definitely would be channel hopping if the Crows reserves were playing against the ANZAC day AFL game on TV. I would also definitely be watching and not changing channels if our SANFL side were playing if the AFL game was a one way smashing.

I wouldn't be here if I wasn't a passionate Crows man, but I'm also a passionate Centrals man. While I love the SANFL, I'm not one of those 'us v them' type you see elsewhere and understand the SANFL's place in today's football world, but having said that I would never be comfortable if TV coverage was dominated by 1 or 2 sides (whether that's the Crows, Centrals, or South).

If it's Crows SANFL side against Freo v North, then it's the Crows SANFL side every day of the week. If it's the Crows SANFL side up against Centrals v South (if that was the case), then it's Centrals v South for me.

If Tex kicks a bag of goals Friday night can we bring him in on Sunday?

WheresGroomgone is hoping yes.

Makes sense to play two games per weekend to get match fitness up to speed as quickly as possible.

The AFLPA would kick up a huge stink if a club tried this, but there's no reason why any player could play a blinder Friday night and be the sub on the Sunday.

Haha... wasn't really serious - wheregroomgone has got Walker in the goal kicking game this week.

Who was the player we had who played SANFL Saturday then had to back up for us on the Sunday?

I was told that it used to happen in the SANFL that a player would play a game in the reserves and then would have to play a game in the league team because of a last minute injury or illness. I dont think back then they had emergencies etc.

That's still common in SANFL trial matches today.

Also, last week in the SANFL there was a reserves field umpire that had to back up in the league game after one of the league umpires pulled a hamstring in the first quarter (no emergency umpire in the SANFL)!

I have done it a few times at school for soccer and AFL. Played in the A team and then had to make up numbers in the B team. I loved it, I used to think at the time, how awesome and fun it was to play two games.

In all honesty, even though the Crows sucked early last year with Tex in the team, there still seemed to be this feeling that anything could happen when he was on the end of a passage of play. In that Carlton game where he did his knee he was on fire. Even though 2013 sucked, we would have made the finals with Tex in the side.

Indeed, his field kicking is exceptional and his ability to scoop the ball up off the deck is as good as any big man currently playing.

Im sorry, I dont care but I need to post this video again. This man is playing for us in a few weeks time. He is worth an additional 3 goals whether it be of his own boot or goal assists.

Oh Walkerrr...he's a colossus. He's kicked five, he's been a handful...he's been the DIFFERENCE.

With Tex and Eddie in our forward 50 I think we will be absolutely destructive, especially once throwing Dangerfield in there too, we will be seriously scary down in our forward line. Eddie and Tex will be setting up plenty of goals as well as kicking bags themselves.

Then you have players like Pods, JJ and Pets getting the third best defenders going around, instead of the number 1s. Its a massive rippling effect.

How long will it be til Tex will be back to full strength (output same as before injury)?

I enjoy watching him play, such a character on and off the field, but maybe don't expect too much from his this season... but next season he should be back to his normal self.

Geez. Rewatching that is spine tingling.

However, the way he falls in some of those marking contests.... will really test his knee out if he keeps the same style. First one in particular is almost the same as when he did it vs the blues!

That's exactly what I thought. I remember Rehn saying he changed the way he would land with bent knees.

What is worrying is that a lot of his marks were exactly the same way he did his knee.

I would say it will take a solid 6-8 matches. He will play a few quiet games and this is when patience is needed.
