Toast Tex Walker

Disagree. He's struggling, but its not an attitude problem. He's been a good leader for the club and works hard. Key forwards are finding this year very hard. Numbers are getting back, the space is cramped because players are less tired

Ben Brown and Jack Reiwoldt have been just as bad and their not playing for the leagues worst team. Like Tex, they also have poor body language at times. Cameron hasn't done much more either, or the West Coast key forwards

Tex Walker 8.0 disposals, 1 goal per game
Ben Brown 7.8 disposals, 1.2 goals per game
Jack Reiwoldt 7.5 disposals, 1 goal per game
Jeremy Cameron 8.25 disposals, 1.75 goals per game
Jack Darling 7.6 disposals, 1 goal per game
Josh Kennedy 6.4 disposals, 1.2 goals per game

Very interesting..

Walker’s been poor this year (and to be fair, well below his best for the past few years), but he attracts criticism like practically no other player in the league.

mason at least has a high potential ceiling and can backup ruck
Cox is 29 and has played one good game in his career, I think he's reached his ceiling.

Key forwards are having a tough year for sure. It’s curious that so many of the reliable ones are doing it this tough.

So why does he attract so much criticism? Doesn’t just happen by magic and it’s not happening because he stinks it up on the field week in and week out. Frankly he comes across very unlikeable and arrogant and lacks the emotional intelligence to play a straight bat, read the situation and respond to questions and situations in a more appropriate ‘leader-like’ manner.

Firmly believe the club is broken and until Tex (plus Roo and Chapman) is gone it cannot be fixed. Big personlaities; divisive characters doing more harm than good.

These days if Adelaide kick two it's considered a day out.
Not far off it, we've kicked 31 goals in 5 games so if anyone did kick 2 goals for us, that's a 3rd of our scoring right there...

As over the hump as Walker may be, right now there are very few key position forwards (or any forwards) that would thrive in our current system where when it does happen to come forward, you'd be lucky to get a 50/50 contest 8 times out of 10.

So many posts in here ignore his footballing ability and go straight for his character/personal attacks which is reflective of much of social media.

Imagine being him putting up with all that personal s**t.

No doubt those same people would share images of anti-bullying messages and promote mental health awareness because they don't even understand hypocrisy.

This thread needs a huge cleanup.

It's not great to kick people when they/their club is up, but it is somewhat expected. The fact people still pile on when Tex is clearly past his best at a club at their lowest point is just insane.

Let it go and realise the bloke has had his fair share of off-field grief, he isn't a threat to anyone else's club/player missing out on anything(e.g. Premiership, Coleman etc) to get salty about so just give it a rest.

He says while defending a well-known bully. Speaking of not understanding hypocrisy ...

Doesn't make it his idea like people insist it is.
It was Collective Minds' idea, if anyone from Crows should be blamed for the power stance it should be Burton and maybe Pyke too - not Tex.

It seems 100% a 'captain's call' to go ahead with that, regardless of where the idea originated. If the captain didn't want to do it, then it wouldn't have happened.

He has unfairly been made a scapegoat/maligned for the Crows 2017 Grand Final loss, in addition to his wife losing their first born in tragic circumstances, and the crap that followed the Crows since, I am inclined to give him a break/a lot of slack .
How people forget that it was Tex who helped the entire Crows club, players, coaching staff and fans together after the tragic murder of Phil Walsh.

He has been through enough emotional crap and trauma to last a lifetime, what gives us to sit here and judge him, given all the situations I mentioned ?

Frankly I think he needs a club/environment in which to flourish, could be actually be the type of player/forward the Demons or Bombers need.

Tex deserves better.

The club has lost a lot of goalkickers in the last 2 or 3 years. Betts, Cameron,Jenkins, Mcgovern, Greenwood popped up, and I don't think Lynch is going all that well.

So the focus is on him as there is not much support.

He hasn’t had a go at Kornes for a long time and just says no comment anytime Kane has a potshot at him, which would be hard.

You still haven’t said anything which even somewhat excuses the amount of character abuse he has received in recent years.
And what has all that got to do with the lack of effort, urgency and heart that is so obviously when watching that’s last couple of years? I’m not saying it’s right that anyone gets abuse but that’s what happens when someone plays without ‘character‘. Also Tex liked to play ‘Mind games’ such as the power stance being a classic example. He should have left all that s**t away from the game and just run hard, bumped and tackled fiercely, jumpEd high, catchEd and collected clean and contribute to the team.

Early on in his career he did look like he had the potential to be one of the best forwards in the competition. (Kicked 63 goals in 2012)

Then he did his ACL (rd 5 2013)

Never realised his potential. But still a valuable team member always doing a lot of little things (The way he sprung open Eddie was a thing of beauty) being voted leagues best captain by his peers what was it, 2 straight years? or was it 3? (2016-17 and maybe 2015)

Then post 2017 everything went downhill. 2 heavily interrupted pre-seasons (or was it actually no pre-season) in 2018 and 2019 had him playing average at best and probably only got games due to him being the captain.

But this year. No excuses. Obvious he needs to go (Unless he did a lot in the Brisbane game and the 2nd half of the Sydney game which I missed). Hopefully when Fogarty comes back we can banish Tex to reserves. As much as Id love to see him get another 6 games (get to 200 games) and 10 goals (break the club record for goals) Im not sure I could justify it.
Pick 75 in the 2007 AFL draft.

He slowly developed under the Neil Craig years of 2008-2011. Neil Craig let him rot in the SANFL to work on his defensive side of his game. Also rumours he was going to join GWS.

Neil Craig gets sacked and Under a New coach in Brenton Sanderson, Kicked 63 goals in 2012.

Did his ACL. Kicked 34 goals from 15 games in 2014.

59 goals from 23 games in 2015 was Impressive for any Key Forward.

He kicks 47 goals and 37 behinds in 2016. Again, should of kicked 50 goals.

In 2017, he kicks 54 goals from 23 games and crows make the Grand final.

In 2018 he kicks 26 goals from 14 games. Season hurt with injury.

In 2019 he kicks 43 goals from 22 games. Not exactly as good as his 2012-17 years but still solid numbers.

Isn’t he contracted on big 💰💰💰 next season ?
Why would he walk away from that ...
Thats true.

The bloke only turned 30 on ANZAC day.

How many Walker roast threads are on the main board now?

The flak he cops is over the top

Yeah he's done as a footballer, but he isn't the first or wont be the last to fall off a cliff
He deserves to cop some critism. Mainly with his performance.

He's not Hitler, but he's an arrogant loudmouth who's been dishing it out for years when the Crows were a good side, and now that they're sh*t he has to expect that he's going to cop it back. That's just how the world works.

Likely retires at the end of the year. For his sake I hope he does. He's clearly not enjoying his football and hasn't been for a long time. I'm sure Roo will line up a cushy blokey bloke media gig on MMM or Fox Footy for him when he retires, and he'll probably be a lot happier in that role.
I agree with this. If you hurl abuse at people, you are going to get it back.

Matthew Pavlich played 16-17 years for the Dockers. How many People Abuse him on Social Media? Exactly.

You dont see Pav go on drunken Tirades on social media like Facebook or Twitter.

Mark Riccuito has made himself look like a clown hurling abuse at past crows players.

Sir Neil Passmore Craig was right when he said many years ago "he's not that good really".
Thats crap and you know it. Taylor walker had a few Good seasons of kicking 50-60 goals each year.

Its Like me Saying that Jay Schulz was a Horrible forward at Port Adelaide Power from 2010-16. Which is False as he kicked 272 games from 122 goals.

Walker kicked 43 goals last year and has 5 so far this year. Josh Kennedy kicked 49 and has 6.

The only chat about Kennedy is that he's 33 this year and has been on a bit of a decline for 2-3 years. This will probably be his last year and his form so far hasn't been great. He's been a star and I'll take a couple 40-50 goal seasons from a player that has been kicking 60+ for half a dozen years.

As above there was nothing negative directed at Pavlich even though he probably should have retired after 2014. No one roasted Jarryd Roughead for hanging around and playing in the reserves last year. Etc.

Tex cops more criticism than other comparable players because of how he carries himself. He's a bit of a bell end off the field and can look half arsed on it. People love to jump on that.
