This is a recruiters opinion Captain?

Do you realise how many players have been selected for reasons other than form in every club over the years? Some are coming back from injury and need to pick up the tempo and can't do that in the VFL. Some we need to look at to decide on whether to keep them or not. I am sure first and foremost the coaching staff are happy Walker got through the game.

So now you have Walker to join Yarran on your scrapheap .... I'm guessing you can conveniently forget your attacks on Murphy in the past?

Yeah, Tex should've retired after doing the arm AGAIN early this year

Until he shows some discipline, commitment and courage in getting over career threatening injuries he doesn't deserve to wear the jumper of the Navy Blue.

The rest of us who think he was poor last night deserve to wear the jumper, of course.

Actually, as for me, I'm not really a jumper person. I prefer polatek, doesn't itch as much

You keep records? How far back?

Haphazard records go a long way back. I had to start keeping them in earnest around June 206 ... can't quite remember the catalyst.

disgusting thread. Get real please...you might have been one of the thugs at the carlton richmond game a few weeks ago abusing every carlton player that touched the ball...yet still 'supports' carlton

Everyone having a crack at me here, go and read the JR / Stevens / Hartlett, etc threads where you all have a go at them

Hypocrits

I hope he tears it up...but obviously he is not as fit as they think, and hasnt the confidence to go in hard yet. IMHO, that means he is not ready

Jesus...the same excuses we give Yarran have appeared

...1st game back

...give him time

.....blah blah blah

If you are picked to wear that jumper in the 22, then you need to be ready.

This thread is about Andrew Walker not Chris Yarran. Try better next time troll.

I agree its not about Yarran.

What I'm trying to highlight is that if we want to improve as a side, we need to be tough but fair and loose the bleeding heart syndrome that we have "learnt" in the last 6 or 7 years

If you show on the big stage you are not ready for whatever reason, go and think about it in the magoos.

It worked with Houli, Scotland and maybe Stevens so far this year

Why should we buck that trend with Walker?

Whilst Walker wasn't as his usual best, the best sign was that he was able to get through the game without any issues with his shoulder, which has to be a positive. Pretty tough giving the guy a hard time given this is only his 3rd game of footy he has played since the end of last year. Give the guy some time to at least pick up the tempo of the game.

Did he even get a touch last night?

No explosive carry and run, no high marks, no making space

He looked very slow....and this is meant to be the fittest and fastest guy on our list. Didn't chase, no handball receives.....

Worst comeback I've seen for a long long time.

Does anyone have a cork...

Agreed that it was great he got through

But what about his lack of attack on the ball? Obviously nervous about his shoulder. Why not get that confidance in the 2's?

What about his lack of speed? They were saying he was training the house down, but that part of his game didn't show at all last night

If he plays next week, will he get WoJo? If so, he better turn those jets on

Don't blame ya. The Han Dynasty was renowned for inscrutable rogues.
Haha, that was totally wasted by missing a zero. Damn cordless keyboard, gets me every time.

Because Scotland, Houla & Stevens weren't coming back from a major injury.

Sure, Walks wasn't at his best last night but why was that? Was it like Stevo who got dropped because he from all reports he had weight issues and wasn't showing enough intensity, Houla & Scotland for off field issues and lacking intensity on the ground?

No, the reason for Walks is that he's coming back from a major injury and will need to get the run of things to (a) get confidence in his shoulder because he doesn't want to screw it up for a third time and probably end his career, and (b) after missing all senior games this year he needs to get back into the flow of the game at AFL level. And as Ratts said last night, he wants Walks right for the finals and the only way to do that is give him senior games.

Make sense?

At a guess I'd say most people are pi**ed off because Walks is coming back from a major injury and after his first game back he's getting bagged.

The thing you don't seem to understand is that VFL and AFL are very different and players who have been injured for long periods of time need time to slowly work their way back into the AFL. Walker dominated the VFL the last 2 weeks. His fitness was fine. But AFL is a step up so he needs to be slowly worked into it. If he was a shit player, we wouldn't bother, but it's in the teams best interest to get our good players match fit before finals (hopefully). Every team does it with their good players, Walker had nothing left to gain in the VFL, we know he's good enough to play AFL, he needs to be gently eased into it coming off such a long injury though

Do you really not understand you flog
the gap between AFL and VFL is huge, the only way he will get better is by playing in the afl, to not know this shows you have NFI. The stuff this guy went through and determinantly went out to play a physical sport is amazing, while you sit on your chair watching and critisizing
get a clue!

We laugh at posters like you.

First game back means you need a run. What do you expect after a long absence? Of course you, the expert, thinks they'll be stars the moment the walk back on the field.sorry players are human and not robots you can wind up and send out.

Come back when you get a clue.

you my friend are an idiot
ffs this guy has battled his way back from terrible shoulder problems, he earned his spot yes, but hadnt played in the afl for 12 months
give his a bloody break
you will look like a spud when he tears up the opposition in a couple of weeks:rolleyes:

i CANNOT BELIEVE SOMEONE COULD BE THIS OUT OF TOUCH TO CREATE A THREAD ROASTING 1 AW AFTER WHAT HE HAS BEEN THROUGH. GIVE THE GUY A FRIGGING MONTH OF SENIORS FOR F SAKE
