He'd have to be up there in Club Champion contention this year wouldn't he?

I mean, who would the competition be.

Excellent field kicking, backs himself in and is adds a lot of run off half back.

I hate to think where we'd be without him:eek:

Sign him up to a long term deal quicksmart.

Kerr on the other hand... Looks like he's not fit enough to me. Trade him.

Cracking player!

He is quick, strong and skillfull, ideal for Half Back.

I think he will challenge to be the next Captain, he show very good leadership qualities.

Whilst everyone was fapping away over seeing a 70m pass once every few games, in his first few years, I couldn't see the mass hysteria here.

Didn't impose himself on any games, was an ordinary player.

I got it very, very wrong. My humble apologies.

Agree with the OP, including the Kerr bit.

How long is he signed up for?

Gotta be highest on the priority list

Re: Thank Christ for Shannon Hurn

I wish he was more attacking sometimes. Not only is he such a penetrating, accurate kick but he rarely gets tackled due to his size and pace. If every touch he gets on the half back line, he charged forward and sent it all the way to the forward line rather than switching play or handballing backwards like normal, we might end up with 3-4 more goals over the course of a game.

He has got to the level that Brett jones looked like he'd get to in early 2007. But Bones has really dropped off disposal and confidence wise.

Hurn is really stamping his authority on games great to see.;)

Was sensational tonight, he really went to a new level. Pinpoint short/long kicking, broke tackles, defended well, gave great run off HB, had great vision and really backed himself to take the game on - which i havent seen in his eyes since he got drafted. In 2-3 years time once he builds his fitness and gets ripped he will be a midfielder, he was always going to take time to develop.

Cool, calm, and can boot the shit out of it. :D

He has been excellent this season, really becoming a very important player for us.

Only one clanger from his 24 disposals, his kicking is spot on and creates a lot of attacking opportunities. Hang a ping at goals as well but got caught in traffic and couldn't get the kick away properly.

The quite diabolical kicking performance by Nicoski highlight's Hurn's importance to our backline. The Eagles are very ordinary in both decision making and execution coming out of defense so until the players gain significantly more experience playing together I think the
"Pass it to Hurn" gameplan that has emerged in the last few weeks is necessary.

I said years ago, he'll be the next Captain.

Both Hurn and LeCras two of our better players this year and maybe the only two that has improved since 2007, harsh I know but who else has been just as good consistently?

Can't believe the rubbish I read on this board. He was hopeless in 2008 and delist material, according to many.

OK, that was a joke!

Interestingly they've both been in the system for about 4 or 5 years now, which goes to show how long you have to wait before players show you what they really have.

Hurn was drafted in 2005 and LeCras in 2004.

Also something I find interesting is that of the players we picked up in 2004 and 2005 all have shown something (Not including Smith and Morton) except Spangher who is still seen as a youngster and fringe dweller.

I really, really hope the coaching staff challenges him over the off-season to ge as fit as he ever has so he can push into the midfield, he could use his hard body and skittle some people as well as using his 70 metre kicks pushing deep into the 50 rather than through the middle, top quality season though, would have to be top 3 B + F :thumbsu:

has been a huge positive this year. it's a pity we need him so badly down back.
with that size he could be the guy to take some heat off kerry in the middle, even for stretches.
