This Grand Final makes me appreciate how close Sydney and West Coast have been in recent years. The biggest win either one of our teams have had in the past 2 years is 12 points. That is just amazing

LOL at West Coast and Sydney fans on this thread! The last two years we have wanted to rip each other throats out, now we are united in the cause for a watchable grand final!:D

Do you think the AFL will help us both out to get to the GF next year? The amount of people that have switched off their TV's by now must be killing the ratings!

Reading this thread is quite disappointing, basically fans of both clubs deriding what the Cats have achieved today and throughout the year. They have shown emphatically that they were far and away the best team this year. Any attempts to deride their year by saying how close the previous 2 GF's were is a slight on what they did today, they completely destroyed the 2nd placed team today and the fact is neither WC or Sydney were good enough this year to make it to today regardless of any excuses ie injuries. Just acknowledge what they did and be gracious as supporters who did not make it.

nothing taken away from the cats but seriously, port were beyond disappointing, would have been nice to see a contest like west coast and sydney have shown in the last 2 grand finals.
just makes watching it as a neutral pretty boring.
cats deserved it though and played like premiers and were brilliant.
shame about the other team not putting up a fight though... tis all we saying :)

Ive anyways found low scoring matches to be more nerve racking as the game can turn very quickly if one team gets a couple of quick goals. Low scoring game means each goal is worth alot more and its much more exciting when your team scores.

No one is deriding Geelong's achievement, they deserve the win and they did it easy. As a neutral though, it was a crap game to watch.

No one is deriding their win, but it was boring as batshit.

When did anyone even comment on Geelong's year? Spectacle and achievement are quite clearly distinct issues.

Great win by the Cats but the lack of competitiveness killed it for mine. IMO we Eagles and Swans fans would have alot more fun watching the replay then the Cats.

At least we didn't have boring as batshit Grand Finals. I'm falling asleep watching this domination by Geelong.

At least we had classic Grand Finals. :thumbsu:
Was saying that in the pub in the 2nd half. The Swans may well have adopted a defensive game plan to counteract the forward thrusts the Cats would have put on. But we would not have played the highly naive tactical suicide Williams did by persisting with his attacking running game even though the Power were getting tackled with the footy & coughing it up, only for the Cats to rebound at will.
