he'll be 30 by then
I make it 29... he's signed a 5 year contract.. he's very durable and has had a serious injury free career. I expect he'll be playing well into his thirties and will be part of a GWS push for a flag. So the claim that he won't be able to hurt us at GWS is... optimistic.. get it?

Heath played with incredible passion, perhaps too much so at times. He devoted a large chunk of his career to Collingwood. He is the sonof a Collingwood great and as such is a natural member of the Collingwood fraternity. What a shame we could not keep him, that we could not accomodate his idiosyncracies and aggression. I hope he does really well at GWS and sparks them up with his energy and leadership. Heath will be missed, for his special individual qualities and his run and 1 on 1 ability. :(

I really didn't want Shaw to go, and right until the end, was hoping that the deal would fall through and he would stay. We have kicked a great player out because he cared too much about the game and reacted to circumstances in a way that doesn't fit these politically correct days. He will be a huge loss to our backline.
It is a sad commentary on modern football that this kind of decision is the norm for clubs these days.
It's a sad commentary on the beliefe that consultants should come in and solve a problem that didn't exist but they they have to highlight in order to have a gig.

When you head down a Leading Teams type path you have to follow through. When you make sensible decisions based on football out put you can win premierships. Sydney used leading teams but they kept Davis & Hall until their football didn't pay their way. They were happy with Creswell a leader. Brisbane didn't use leading teams and they kept Aka until his football didn't pay his way.

Shaw is a victim of pigheadedness - both his and Buckley's. What is really sad is that those two adults who you would think both love the club couln't see the forest for the trees. That's where people in the football department should be able to step up.

. You've been a Collingwood legend in my eyes and your efforts in ensuring we won the flag in 2010 won't be forgotten mate. You will forever be a Collingwood man with the family name being a part of this club for decades.

That smother against Nick Riewoldt in the 2010 Grand Final Replay will go down as one of the club's greatest moments in history. That was unforgettable and should be replayed for years to come to show our young players the dedication and toughness that's required to be a great Collingwood player.

A sad day when Heater's no longer at the club but you've left a positive legacy at this club and not one fan will forget your efforts. You are welcome back at this club any time you want!

Now here's the replay of that unforgettable smother that ruined Riewoldt's career for eternity! I know it's been shown already, but I want people to be reminded of it again!! :D

Apart from Clement, i cant think of a better 1 on 1 backmen in the last ten years at the pies.

Well Heath may be gone from Black and White... But as I live in Sydney I will be going to alot more GWS games next year to watch Heater play.

Always a favorite of mine... that doesn't change.

Fair enough. I am as sad as you that these great players are no longer wearing the black n white. We have got to move on though. A new generation of stars will take us forward.

Yeah...

I'm not deserting the club dude...

I'm just going to go and support Heath in front of 3,000 people at Skoda...

It's a great option for a weekend activity.

That's ok with you... yeah?

Not that both Clement and Heath weren't good but Presti was the best 1 on 1 backman we've had in a very long time.

Clement was able to out point small and tall players, play his role and kick with great effect. Don't recall him cracking the sads onfield and in fact would think he'd have a low opinion of that type of carry-on.

Shaw himself hadn't been like that all his career, it crept in late. If Birchall or Gibson starting gobbing off at Hodge or Clarkson I reckon Hawthorn would take a pretty dim view of it. I think he got carried away with himself as he acknowledged.

That is interesting that you say that. I actually thought his biggest weakness was when he had to play on an opponent.

Great rebounding defender though. Probably top 3 in the league.
