Hmmmm, I don't think the ******* Head of English/Lit at Cambridge could understand what you're on about mate.
I don't know who that currently is but if he doesn't have recent brain damage it shouldn't be a problem.

Don't bother, he doesn't reply because he has nothing to say.

More so that he can't back up what he says and then when you call him on it he plays it off like we "read too much into it".

Really? Gysberts got two RS nominations despite being a spud? Petterd was board sponsored two years in a row as a laff? I imagine if Howe is moved on next season he was never any good as well right?

Assuming Martin, Gysberts, Moloney and Rivers were spuds...

...with the exception of Dawes (who is hardly a world-beater), we haven't exactly replaced them with superstars.

For the record, I have no issue with who we let go - Neeld got it right IMO.

My issue is the approach of a 'net gain' over trade period...

I agree.

This doesn't mean I think everyone we let go is a spud (in the same way I don't think the players others teams let go to us are spuds! OMG!), just that they weren't the right fit.

Except Rivers, who I'm sad to see go. :[

Can't wait for 13'

Not only because I want to see this new look demons but because we can stop speculating about whether these guys were any good or not. You really have no bias to support your argument yet so lets just agree you didn't like what the club did over the trade period. That's fine; but to say crap like we got rid of talent and traded in no better is unjustified.

Nobody outside demon fans rates these guys. We threw them away like garbage because that's what the coach thinks of them. The only guy on that list that would comfortably play in an top 8 opposition 22 side is Rivers and he walked.

I can't understand some people. you want fast results then yet say we should of sat on our hands and waited for these players to come good. Well the club is sick of waiting and so am I.

I won't toast Neeld till he see his plan in action, but I toast him for having the balls to make changes

TBH i have no idea about the guys we let go. Jizz from his lack of strength and endurance obviously wasn't putting the work in, whether he's a lost cause or not who knows. I just have issue with people acting like he isn't a significant loss ability wise. IMO it's no cause for celebration that for whatever reason the football department couldn't get through to him. It's great that it seems that a standard is being set that didn't seem to there previously but I don't see how it's out of line that I'm bummed that a potentially excellent inside mid has been lost to our system without what I see as adequate compensation.

I also remember Bailey's clean out and thinking 'he hasn't gotten rid of any of our major pea hearts'. Neeld has. BIG difference. I think Bailey and co's desired type of player can be summed up by some of the kids they drafted.
.
Interesting how a game changes it.

That was a common debate back then. I always thought those putting the 7thHamster argument made a good point. There are far too many circular arguments put forward around here on that subject. Typically it goes along the lines of ...
A: "Neeld is great because he got rid of the spuds"
B: "Why do you say they were spuds?"
A: "They must be because Neeld got rid of them"
