You both played some great footy for us but were both killed by injuries.

Thanks for trying your best and good luck with everything on from here.
Well said PJ.
Both overwhelming victims of the curse of the Tiger
Good luck for the future.

Yep. Brown was perhaps in the top 5 players in the comp when he snapped his leg.
Cogs...we all loved him.
Just cruel what happened to them both.
Good luck boys.

Yeah agree. Both were guns until injury killed them.
Seeing Ben Cousins hugging and smiling at the end made me angry 'cos he always prances around like an arrogant **** but seeing Nathan Brown and Mark Coughlan tearing up made we wish I was there.
Cogs could've been anything.

Sad to see them go out like this. Good luck boys, all the best for where ever you end up, and thanks for your contribution to the Tiger cause over the years.

what a sad end to a horrible year.

Cogs was inch's from being our captain - he was our shining light and the guy who was meant to march us forward - injuries destroyed him, both he and Tony Free we blokes that had the heart, skill and passion to lead the tigers out of the dark days - both were struck down in their prime by knee injuries

Brown - you were a great player, one of the best till your leg snapped.

To see two blokes who still look young walk off the ground in perth - after the team put in such an insipid performance - what a horrible end to a career for two blokes who had the world at their feet, but had it ripped away.

Two brilliant players leave the game with barely a whisper being said, and only leaving a smudge of their overall talent as a memory - very sad

what a horrible season, god i hope richo gets signed on, to lose Johnson, Brown, cogs, Bowden and Richo is a year that was so terrible and that saw these blokes fade away and their careers not be celebrated... its horrible

Cogs kinda of reminds me of Tony Free with how his career was cut short, due to injury
wow, literally just wrote the same thing

definitely agree - both were hard at it, fearless, skillful and passionate players who lead from the front. They let their courage do the talking - and it talked volumes.

My god we have had some good players be destroyed by injury

Sad to see two potential champions bow out after having their respective careers destroyed by injury.

I've never felt as gutted, football wise, as I do about Cogs finishing up. What a battle it's been for him. Good luck mate.

Thanks Cogs and Browny
Both were shining lights for the RFC in this dark era at tiger land even though both were cut down in their prime through injury. Would have loved to see both go around again next year for the tigers but hope we can still watch the two of them play AFL elsewhere as both deserve to be recognised as stars of the competition and not part of the curse that is the tigers.

:thumbsu: I was just telling the mrs tonight on the train home how its a shame what happened to both of them.

I remember the couple of seasons when cogs first started playing for us he carried our midfield and was earmarked to be our saviour.

As for Browny horrific injury that took away his quickness and his agility.

My 5 year old son will miss Browny the most, absolutely adored the bloke.

I do remember the year Cogs took on the midfield singlehandedly with all that work, and he thrived.

That was his window of excellence in AFL.

But then our midfield changed and Cogs got injured.

I'll remember Cog's great year over anything Brown did.

its a shame to see mark coughlan gone. i remember watching this guy before injuries and he was an absolute gun. Purely based on talent, deserves a second chance to prove his worth.

I know it is a new start for your club next year with Hardwick, but I would have given both of them, particularly Coughlan another year. Very disappointing to see them finish this way.

They're both past it, no point giving them another year.

Guys this is really depressing right now. I honestly feel like two members of my family just past away. I feel so gutted and sick that these two blokes have had their careers destroyed by injury like this. I'm really not taking this too well.

Whenever I think of that night Browny broke his leg I still get the exact same emotions and sickness in my stomach. Bang, he's down and his season over. But back then there was always the belief that he would always get back to his best, I always felt in my heart he would get back on top. God the time since then til now has gone by in the blink of an eye and all of a sudden it's bang again, but this time it's forever.

And Cogs, this guy could have been a multiple brownlow medalist, would have certainly been our captain and our young inexperienced and under achieving team could have been moulded into fearless gut running never say die players.

It's just shattering what's happened to these two blokes. They would have been remembered as all time greats of this club, but now, as with so many great Tigers gone by, we will be forced to keep the memories of these great players alive by telling stories of what they could have been, instead of what they were.

Very sad to see both end their careers like that, horrible end to a horrible season. The footage looked like some WCE flog was giving it to both as they left down the race...made my blood boil.

On a brighter note, both no doubt have good future's and different successes ahead of them now their playing days are over.

Commiserations to Cogs and the Tigers for a disappointing 09'. You've shown some spurts of great football this year, hopefully Hardwick can get you moving.

Not overly fussed over about Browny. He dug his grave and will now lie in it. Was an incredible footballer at the dogs and sadly footy karma followed him when he followed his hip pocket.

Best of luck turning this around next year... not too far around though ;)

Well said Astro...Very nicely put.. Indeed two awesome players leaving without a whisper..Browny wants to play on at another club ..If he does I wish him the best!

Nothing has been said about Richo and Cuz...Im taking this to mean good news that they will be offered contracts. Otherwise they would have made it a farewell game for Cuz also on the Subi oval.???
