Hi all
Carlton fan here, but I felt this was worthy of a separate thread.
I must thank the Collingwood Football Club for something very special that the club did for a thirteen year old friend of my girlfriend's family.
The boy underwent a major life threatening operation on his brain (brain tumor) on Thursday of this past week. The operation went as well as could be hoped and we are all praying for a full recovery.
However, the Thursday previous to this, April 30, the family got an audience not only with one or two members of the team but with the majority of the team - players, coaches, etc.. The family have been lifelong Collingwood fans and the boy idolized Nathan Buckley.
They spent a fair amount of time with him and made the entire family feel very special. They made the child understand that he was on their minds and that they were supporting him one hundred and ten percent.
We often hear of the bad things that football players and teams do but the media usually always turns a blind eye to the generous acts of kindness that happens on a daily basis.
Make a Wish granted him a wish but this wasn't his wish. It was the hard work and dedication to their fans of the Collingwood Football Club that made this all possible.
From myself and our friends, thank you to the Collingwood Football Club for everything. Your support through this time has been greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
