Gonna miss this guy hugely next year, wish it wasn't all ending so soon. I think it's at least a year early given how many of our backline suffer niggles or serious injuries through any given year.

You're a champion Daisy. Thanks for putting your body on the line for this great club, and for the joy you brought us over the last couple of years as you got back to some of your best.

Wish you the very best in life after footy. Don't be a stranger around Princes Park, you're a Blue for life!

When he arrived he was a disastrous, injured, overpaid boondoggle that marked a low-point in our club's decision making and list management.

But dammit if he hasn't earned a helluva lotta respect since then. On this year's form I'd have given him one more, to be honest.

Best of luck in whatever you do in the future, Daisy, and thanks for the efforts. I'm tipping a successful media career is there for the taking if he wants it.

Thanks for your efforts at the Blues, all the best for the future!

Hope you can see yourself running around at the Northern Blues next season Daisy, we could use your enthusiasm and knowledge of the game to help the young players understand what is required to get the best out of yourself and team mates.

Thanks for all the hard work and dedication (including taking a significant pay cut/re-working of your contract)

No one can say that you didn't give it your all for the Navy Blue.

All the best in your post Carlton career and i really hope you can get your family life sorted pal (as MEB alluded to)

I for one will greatly miss watching you play Dale.

#ThanksDaisy

Still don't understand this decision. Plenty could have gone before him, and he was one of the players that showed true passion and a never say die attitude. I'm assuming he's not hanging around in a mentoring/coaching role?

32 years old, out of contract, on a reasonable wage, more likely to decline than improve in 2020, development of existing players + return of injured players + recruitment of new players probably pushes him into the reserves.

Looks pretty straightforward.

Don't doubt he probably could have contributed in 2020, but I don't think we miss him too much on field if a few other things line up.

In the same way the players stood up against Freo in the absence of Cripps, McKay and Curnow, starting to strip back the senior "crutches" may be important in seeing who steps up next.

Doc comes back in. Willo comes back in. 20 games between them covers the loss.
Fisher has 50+ games under his belt and should be looking for a much improved season in 2020.
SPS has 60+ games and has moved into a half back role which appears to suit him well.
Dow is approaching 40 games and should be looking at impacting across four quarters next season.
O'Brien has 30+ games and should be looking at upping his output next season.
Setterfield gaining experience playing on a wing.
Walsh an out and out gun, could be settled on a wing again next year.
Cuningham and Kennedy look settled in forward roles, and just need consistency, 20 games between them should be the minimum.
Gibbons looks solid as an outside mid.
Newman has settled nicely in our backline.
Marchbank hopefully gets his body right and plays out the season.
Murphy a possibility to play more outside if someone like Cogs/Wines/Crouch lands at the Blues.
Stocker has spent time at HB and may do so again in 2020 if that's where the opportunity is.
Jack Martin apparently coming our way, definitely best suited to an outside/wing/flanking role.
Brandon Ellis reportedly a possibility, has played down back but more suited to the wing.

I'm seeing more than enough to cover the loss of Daisy, even if they don't all come off. And that's without factoring in guys like Schumacher, Cottrell, Macreadie, Deluca, Garlett, Owies and Lang, who I haven't mentioned because I see less likelihood of them having an impact, but any one of whom could surprise if given some more opportunity.

Yeah, there are other lesser lights that should go before Daisy. But you don't delist players with a few rounds to go - most of those players will be cut too, but at the appropriate time without a farewell opportunity at the G.

Thanks Daisy. All credit to him in changing his form around through this time at the club. He’s been fantastic the past two years though. Shame he was riddled with injury in his first few years. That shoulder injury sucked. Reinvented himself consistently position wise, which isn’t the easiest thing to do either. Congrats on getting 100 up and finishing up with your name on the locker.

Thought he might squeeze out another year, but that’s footy.

Don’t forget, in his peak years, he was in the best 5 players in the comp before the injuries.

Granted it didn’t start well at Carlton, but he won me over.

Loved how he played, there was always a 17 year old kid playing footy with his mates in him, and he wore the jumper with pride.

The occasional burst off the back flank and unleashing a 50 metre banana was always entertaining, that’s just how he played.

He says ‘no regrets’ and that sits fine.

Well done on a terrific career Daisy.

Big ups Daisy!!!
Thanks for bringing us some great highlights during some dark times.
You really did grow on me as you showed pride and passion in being a blue bagger.
You were frustrating at times early in your time at Carlton - mainly due to injuries, but you sure as hell gave your all and grew on me over time.
Thought you had more to give, but not to be.
Kudos to you and I wish you all the best for what's ahead for you.
