This sucks. Really sucks. The sheer effort and workrate and what he's been able to get out of a less than cooperating aging body has been phenomenal.

Has bled Blue, given his all, and still managed to bring excitement and energy even as one of the old brigade. Deserves enormous respect.

Hate the circumstances. But love the player. Thanks Daisy. I hope you don't begrudge us too much.

I'm still very confused about this, ever since he changed his contract we've seen a different player and I've loved the way he's gone about it. Definitely one of our best players during that time. Thanks Daisy

I know I've only seen a small sample but from what I've seen at games and training clips, he's great with the younger players and always one of the first to get around em.

Disappointed to see him go but obviously SOS and co. have their reasons

Loved this guy

Some of his desperate efforts in games, particular recently has gone unnoticed, a seriously unselfish player. For example, that smother on Matera late in the last qtr against Freo (where he basically threw his body on Matera's kick) was as important as Murphy's goal to win it I reckon...
Stayed authentic, stayed true to himself. Should be proud.
Onya Daisy.

we knew tough decisions were coming once the list grew stronger and future places were tougher to grab........

yeah, as much as I would like DT to have another year it does reflect the growing strength of our list. Was never going to be part of our next flag so the tough decision was made.

Hopefully we will see him in some media capacity as he has a personality and string words together.

Yeah I know. I'm still gonna be a grumpy old campaigner about it though... at least until I've had my coffee.

Just watched Daisy’s presser - very sad actually, but I thought that he handled himself really well under the circumstances. Personally, I was pleased that in using the word “sacked” on (at least) two occasions, he showed some of his trademark mongrel by refusing to fly in formation with the club’s silly PR spin that he had somehow decided to “call time” on his career at the Blues. Obviously, Daisy didn’t decide to retire, the club decided to retire him, and we can only hope that those who have made that decision will be vindicated in the fullness of time. Personally, I struggle to see how we can possibly replace Daisy’s footy smarts, leadership qualities, composure under pressure, and passion and mongrel in time for season 2020, but I would love to be proved wrong.

Tbh, I can’t shake a nagging fear that along with the welcome Teague-induced upsurge of belief in where we’re at, and where we’re heading, there’s a risk that the club might be in danger of getting ahead of ourselves a smidgen in the immediate future, as we arguably did leading into this season. Yes, major progress is clearly being made (both on and off the field), and the future definitely looks bright, but imo it would be a major pity and a risk to the rebuild if we mistake getting off our knees and walking (which we have over the past few months), to jogging and being on the point of sprinting (which in my view is still a minimum of a full year away). As far as I’m concerned, most signs suggest that Daisy could still have played a key role for us in 2020 at least, especially if the injury gods continue to plague a number of key defenders.

As always, interesting times ahead, but that’s for others to worry about now Daisy - if you choose not to play on elsewhere (or aren’t given the opportunity to), then imo you’ve definitely earned the right to feel hugely proud of your achievements across a long and distinguished career, which began with one trademark and accomplishment (flair and a premiership), and ended with another trademark and accomplishment that imo are even more impressive (heart and having played an important role in dragging a great club up by its bootstraps). All the best for your future, whatever paths you choose to pursue.

Daisy's presser is up now. Interesting that he mentioned repeatedly about being sacked. Dare I say a little bit of frustration/disdain in there hidden by dry humour? Doesn't matter now and he'll given 110% in the last two games for the club, but maybe there was more to it than cap space.

I'll still thank him for being a brilliant servant for the club, and turning around his image as a Blues whipping boy to fan favourite. Huge credit to him and disappointing he won't be going round again next year.

All the Best Daisy.
Thank you for the service you gave our Club.
I loved watching you in these last couple of seasons.
Thought this was a bit earlier than expected.
I hope you are involved with our club further in any sort of capacity.

Thank you Daisy.

There's no doubt he was a brilliant footballer at his best, but unfortunately we never saw that at Carlton.

What we did see, though, was an unconditional footballer who always gave maximum effort and who always put the team first. And for that I reckon he won a lot of supporters over.

I don't agree with the decision to part ways at this point in time but he can certainly exit with his head held high and can be proud of his career. Playing 100+ games at two clubs is a serious achievement. The first player to ever do it at both Carlton and Collingwood, I believe.

Thanks and all the very best for whatever comes next.

I do laugh that most of the board wanted him sacked at end of 2017. It's a testament to daisy that most now are reluctant to say goodbye.
I guess that we needed to free up one of Simmo's or daisy's spots and simmo has the runs on the board to determine when he goes (And appears to have regained his appetite).
I'll head down tomorrow in part to see him off and wish him all of the best. We'll done Daisy and good luck for the future.
