We've been down a few times in the past few years but I've always had a feeling that we could come back and turn things around but last night was the first time I've had that really empty feeling you get when you lose all hope and faith in your own team.

It's the first time I've felt it in about 3-4 years. The GF loss was hard to cope with but at least I felt we were still capable of doing something special the next season.

Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

i'm the same, i think there's a whole buncha players from the best 22 who've got some serious work to do in the off-season, and unless we've got some guns hidden away in the twos, we're looking at a bleak coupla years

Yeah watching last nights game and thinking at half time we might have a chance at a good come back at collingwood gave me alittle boost but the blows 2 us by collingwood just gutted me...im going 2 the swans vs. hawks game next week and i would be so happy if we come out with a win coz it would give us that top four boost but atm idd be happy if we just fitted nicely somewhere in the top 8...but def that report on Amon and Mickey O looking 2 miss some action has got me scared

Up the Swannies i know there is some hope in that red and white

Until there is no game next week, we are still a chance.
The Bloods will go again.
Maybe Roosy will play a few seconds players next week to rest a few guys.

We're in the finals so let's not give up on these blokes. A few a struggling ATM but I know they will give their all.

As long as we manage to get within 400 points of the Hawks next week(if Buddy wears the same pair of boots as he did today we'll be fine), we'll make the finals for the fifth straight year and the tenth time out of the past twelve. Even if our senior team gets bundled out of the finals, I've got a good feeling about our reserves team being able to go all the way! Luv Humph.

I know how you feel,

Late in the last term last night I saw the team for the first time in a few years stop running and signs they had given up. It was only for a short time and most teams see it at some point but it was the first time in a while I had with us.

I'm with you though, a few young guys are showing signs of looking good and a few bodies getting a good break in the off season and come back refreshed next year I think we can be in the mix again.

We are only one win away from being back on track. Keep the faith.

back on track to where?
with the amount of injuries we have and tired bodies, there is just no logical way we can be competitive in finals this year at all. it just doesnt happen with those odds against you in modern footy. the swannies are a fantastic courageous team, but they are not supermen.

Are you sure you are the same swannykika that started a different Swans board thread?:)

Ali? Rumble in the jungle? C'mon mate, take your own advice!:thumbsu:

To be honest, i dont know how to feel anymore. The only positive i draw out of this year is that on our current form, at least all us fans wont have to sit through nailbiting finals that tear you to pieces in the last couple minutes, lol, my heart always goes like a million a minute!!!!!

Who knows though, this could be a good wake up call, you never know what could happen.

if i'm being honest, i am sick of the style of footy we've devolved to playing....i mean, i admire our intensity, i'm proud of our tackling, well, until this season (we seem to have really dropped off our tackling, and our blokes get brushed aside too easily) and i mostly never cared about being slagged off for the "flooding" or "tempo" style we get blamed for by rival fans and the media, but i've had to admit far more often than i'd like to that this season, more than before, we've played some abysmal football, it's no fun to watch, in fact it's like pulling teeth, we don't seem to get any positive results from it, and more often than not just ONE little mistake means turnovers and inevitably a goal or scoring opportunity to the opposition.....seriously, who actually thinks we've played good footy this season???
i don't care for excuses to do with injured players, etc, that's not good enough, and almost every other club seems to have at least a couple of exciting young players who get their fans revved up and anticipating the future
where's ours?
has roosy run out of ideas? i love him for what he's done with the club, the respect he's brought us, but maybe his time is running out too
the ageing player list, the wear and tear, the difficulty bringing our young blokes through a competition that's just too far below the standard of the VFL and other state leagues...it's all adding up
i know how brave and tough our players have been, but it'd be nice to see a swans game knowing that even if we're gonna lose, we fans will get to see some attractive football, i want to see the Bloods pumping so we get our blood pumping
it's sad and disappointing that our time as a genuine contender seems to be past, but maybe we need a broom through the place

ahh we are still playing finals people.. im not feeling empty at all, we are still a very good chance at having a crack at a 3rd grand final whether or not the so called media "experts" dont give us a chance. obviously half of you people didnt grow up with a side that couldnt get a win let alone make finals every year.

Good call mate, I also grew up when finals appearances where a dream, for ****s sake, its finals guys, get behind them, GO BLOODS!:thumbsu:

I had an empty feeling that Sat night, but things have changed. After our lost i thought we had to beat the Hawks to make the 8 but thanks to the Eagles n Tigers we're in for sure..Also the news and facts that Amon is only serving one week, Micky likely to play, Leo coming back, Hall being rested and hopefully fire first week of finals, Tadgh back soon and all we need is the rest of the boys to fire up and be the Swans that we have been in these past few years..All of a sudden im confident..hope im right..GO SWANNIES!!!!

I watched the 05 GF today and it has made me feel alot more positive. Regardless of the form we've been in this year, i can't give up on them.. we're still in this, we're still a shot.

I'm getting excited by finals as I do think the flag is beyond us in 2007 but a finals win with a couple of younger players around to show them the feel and the intensity and the hunger to do it again to bring us back for 2008 is what I'm feeling right now.

lads, lads....i'm right behind the swannies, they've been wonderful, and yes you're right, for those who endured the bad years, the early 90s, being in this position where finals are almost taken for granted is something we'll look back on with great fondness....and yes, we're almost certain to play finals, and while there's life there's hope
but let's be honest....watching them play this season does not give me much reason to hope....geez, is there a problem in saying that?
we're not good enough....right now, we are NOT good enough to win any final, let alone the big one
if we improve, triffic

Here's what I think will happen. This week we aren't travelling. They've been on the road for two weeks now & they are tired. Roosy has said he will rest Hall. A few others will be rested. Perhaps Schneiderman with his ankle. Crouchy & Spider are sore. Jude need a rest. Bring in the younsters & let the Hawks feel like Supermen for another week. The Pies already feel like Supermen. It happens....................but then the opponent you've hit down to the canvas a few times gets up one more time....................& the rest becomes football folklore.

The last two years Grand Finals efforts have generated respect amongst our opposition like no other Swans team has ever had. We are the team that everyone has wanted to beat all year. week after week our guys have had to come up against the next team wanting to test themselves against our tough, demanding, proven game style. However ugly it may seem to the detractors. Some have been successful at it & others have scratched their heads in awe after the game wondering what they need to do to get to level of mental toughness that is required to fight out a Grand Final to the bitter end after being some 40 points down against a team with some guys playing way 'higher' then a footballer should be allowed to play!!

That's our team I'm talking about Nat. Don't you give up on Roosy & his men. He'll pull out another master stroke. He's done it every year now.
Remember when Jason Ball went down just before the finals in 2003 & we had NO ruckman against a dominant Port Adelaide team................in Adelaide. Do you remember how you felt before that game? I do! And then do you remember how you felt after Goodes totally dominated these guys & we won the unwinnable final. I remember that feeling.

The players are no weaker in the mind. Perhaps their bodies are a little tired but they know how to play just another 4 tough, demanding finals to get to where they need to.

And if they do happen to bow out in the first week, so be it. They've been amazing considering the whole backline has been decimated all year.

I'm not giving up!!;)

i'm not giving up either, i don;t think anyone here is...apart from maybe van berlo = god, but he has his own agenda....i just think, realistically, candidly, based on our overall form this season, this whole season, we're not good enough....but let's see what happens
