True story.

Nah, it meant nothing. The really bad decisions are magnified when they cost games, finals and GF's. Last nights shocker was more of a giggle since we had control of the game for the entire 4 quarters.

Yeah. That was my point. The poster in question is prone to absolute hyperbole and floggishness.

The emergency umpire's sole job (unless replacing an injured umpire) is to monitor the interchange area - and only for interchange infringements. So it was out of his jurisdiction to pay a free against Sooky J for holding the man. But if he was doing anything like his required duty, he would've noted Johnson's actions for the MRP to review later. Would be surprised if Johnson doesn't get a fine out of the incident to go with a week or two for his headbutt on Crowls and the forearm to Barlow.
As for those on this thread suggesting we got the better of the umpiring...... Free Kicks: Freo 13, Geelong 19. And 3 of our frees were for out-on-the-full. So once again we run a Victorian team ragged and still cop a hiding in the free kick count!

Wish there was a way to "LIKE" this comment 300 times,
This didn't make sense...to put it in context the question was ( and I'm paraphrashing) "is there a sluggish arrogant wee weasel more hated than Kim Jong Il, Robert Mugabe or Stevie J?" Brett Harvey was, obviously, the answer. To which I replied the above!

OOF are not considered free kicks (for or against).

A few years ago I agree. Since then though he's been aging about as gracefully as a drunk ostrich. Become a dirty little prick, and constantly bitching to the umpires when he doesn't have the ball on a string. Which happens a lot nowadays.

He is top 5 in the AFL for possies this year and has kicked 8 goals to go with that. He is probably having his best year, is a dirty shit but I guess with our team I cant hate on him too much. Footy fans are a precious bunch, if Crowley had done the pull over the line free to Johnson we would be praising his football smarts. Terrible call but pretty clever from Johnson.

The decision (or non-decision) that got me all night was the non-call of the blatant holding of D.Pearce all night. Every time he was running up our wing he had some cat or other holding his hand. Very hard to explode towards 50 when you have a no talent hack hanging off you.

Sorry Rob, have you seen any Geelong games this year (Sat night aside)? As idiotic as he was on Saturday night, he's probably in career best form. By your logic he wouldn't be doing much bitching either, because he's getting plenty, almost GAJ type numbers.

I hope SJ get's what he deserves from the MRP etc., which for mine is a low level misconduct, but either way you look at it, he's a quality footballer ... and certainly not in the Harvey class of snipping snivelling dickheadness.

EDIT: Just noticed dont bowl there said it above.

Despite this, I did think we had the better of the umpiring. Didn't think it was over the top in any way, but I thought we ended up OK.

Maybe I'm just surprised and pleased that we weren't reamed.

If there's a positive it may be that the 2 sides interchange benches could move to opposite sides of the field. It would also open up the game as you would struggle to follow a player off the field and teams would try to keep the play down "their" flank

At the ground I thought we were bent over backwards and f***** without lube by the umpires to be honest. So many blatant holding the balls, holding the man and push in the backs were just let go yet they were being payed to Geelong.

Fair enough. Watching on TV misses a fair bit of the game, especially when they insist on zooming in at every opportunity (a pet hate of mine). Drives me up the wall... adds nothing, and removes the view of what's happening more than a metre or two away from the ball.

Kim Jong Il isn't so bad. Boohoo-mer Harvey on the other hand.......

Watching at the ground, I was getting pretty frustrated by a lot of the non-calls. What did please me was the non-calls for the most part went both ways, Thought Geelong got the better of it overall.

Watching it at home, it all looked a bit different. A lot of stuff doesn't get shown.

Did the umpiring influence the result? Nah.

Bad calls to both sides as it's a ridiculous game in general to umpire with dumbarse interpretations and that will continue forever.

Yes I was there.

Nah, there would always be complaints about which side is better (conditions wise), why the coaches can't run down from the box but have to cross the field on one side or that the interchange umpire was doing it differently on one side.
Just tell the numptie ump looking at these things to sharpen up.
