Autopsy That Game vs St Kilda That Never Happened

I don't even bother watching the away games on TV because I know this shit will keep happening over and over again. Caught up on some work, cooked dinner, ate dinner, time with kid, did some cleaning, had a shower. Checked result to see if I should watch a replay. It's so predictable.

JL has to be sacked, but I doubt it will actually do anything. The club has a problem from top to bottom, and I've now accepted I just go to the footy every 2nd week to hang out with my uncle and watch some live sport, and if we win then it is a bonus.

Switta is done, that much I totally agree with. Freddy plays well when the midfield is on top. He does very little defensively, but is still a best 22 player if the team (as a whole) are playing well. It's a round about way of saying he's a cream on the cake kind of guy.
Johnson must go first. A total liability. Destroys middle to forward connection.

Jordan Lewis as much as I dislike him basically saying on post match he doesn't think JL is up to it. Even Bucks going close.

Give me your hypothetical thoughts on a hypothetical game vs a hypothetical St Kilda.

I’ll go first. Moose tried his guts out, but the purple bus had too many passengers and well… we got Rossed & shat ourselves.
You call it getting Rossed but what I saw out there was a good ol fashioned Rogering.

Sorry Gaskin, I want to harp on this point. I bet you they don't, I bet you their pressure isn't half as good as the Saints today. I bet we play some brilliant football for a decent part of the game and its a close loss or even maybe they don't turn up (they are due for an off game) and we scrape over. Team is capable of some good footy and Pies won't give too many shits about stopping our game, just playing theirs.

But it is ****ing irrelevant. The team can not cope under pressure, results are now completely ****ing meaningless as even if we ever fluked our way to enough consistency to make finals, they aren't sniffing anything that looks like success because they clearly can not deal with what is almost universal in big games PRESSURE.
It's a soul destroying realisation, but I know you're right.

In the end we are a team that only is as good as the oppo lets us be. There is no working through a challenge, no in-game change or difference. It's 'we want to do this', 'oh you aren't letting us', 'um, coach? coach?' crickets... Have to have games like this to respond the following week? That gets old too. And we looked absolutely bereft of energy, physical or mental to backup to a TNF game - be it Coll or anyone on the ladder.
awaits JLo presser with popcorn , oh wait replay vs gee and vs melb...

100% on the midfield group who got tagged and slaughtered in clearance, contested ball, ground ball gets, and coaching staff for not having a plan B.

50 to 22 clearances. Wow

We didn't play on our terms for a single minute of the game because of the disaster in the middle.
Can't go past this to be honest. Needed to break their press by running harder, being cleaner and kicking a score. If we went hell for leather first quarter and got 3 goals up, Saints would've dropped off. Instead we were weak, mentally and physically and ended up getting dominated. We are not a serious team. Plus Youngy got injured. Utter shit.

The reality is we need a clear out from the top, starting with Garlic and Longmuir.
Player changes won't matter until then.

I thought we showed some good things. Good to see 4 of our best and J-lo having a chat when the game was pretty much out of our grasp. Bet some productive conversation took place and, I for one, would love to see more of it.

They showed the whole comp you only need to pressure us and we fold easier than washing straight out of the dryer.

Very very flat after that performance
Yes, the complete the analogy we need more hard water instead of fabric softener...so they can stay stiff for longer...

All the talent in the world on this team and it doesn’t mean shit because they crumble the second there’s any sort of pressure or expectation.

They love to talk about mindset and the club psych but absolutely nothing has changed and they’ve gone downhill since. Does the coach actually demand anything of his players or does he just baby them?

Always talks about reading the room and deciding whether they need a spray or a cuddle. I’d bet my life that he always goes for the cuddle. They’re soft players and a soft team.

Ross is a bad bad man. Hard to put into words my feelings Freo right now, apathy I suppose?

There was a few posts during the week saying they'll be pissed if they drop this danger game and I just kind of read them thinking, honestly, dropping it doesnt worry me because all it does is reaffirm everything we know. Like, being scared of dropping it implies you think we can do something this year and I'm just not there anymore, clearly JL can not get this team at the required level. Only thing that will impress me with the club from here on out regardless of results will be moving JL on this week.

Don't take anything from St Kilda, they were ****ing unreal, even better than I thought they'd be. That was like THAT prelim against Sydney all those years ago.

JL should do the noble thing and walk for the betterment of the club, but he won't.

The problem is, Garlick is all in in JL and this 'two premierships in five years' fantasy. So if he indeed state that JL will be the coach come round one next year and doubled down, then he needs to go. How does that happen? Does the board come in and swing the axe on both of them?

The final problem is, who comes in and picks up the pieces in a short enough the frame that the club keeps up as a business?

There are problems whichever way we go from here and I'm keen to hear some thoughts on how to re-organise.

Brayshaw on 6PR basically saying nothing really changed at half time other than “It will come if we stick to the plan”… 🥴
The Maginot line. :thumbsu:
