There’s enough talent there where these pathetic performances shouldn’t be happening so often, and yet they continue to do so, year after year.

I have never seen such a mentally weak group of players in all my life. The second the game is not played exactly on their terms they give up. Literally all a team needs to do to beat Freo is apply a bit of pressure to the ball carrier and cut off the short handballs and we go to water. That’s it. There is no plan B. Kicking it high and long down the line over and over again is not a plan B. That is on the coach.

And to think woke up at 4am to watch this. Had a friend come over, made an omelet and yelled at the tv for two hours. What a great to spend my Friday morning. At least you guys have the weekend. I have to go to work now.

I’m not one to react emotionally but JL has got to go. We have way too much talent to dish up this garbage. It looks like we’re over coached and don’t play on instinct. We’re slow. Make dumb decisions. No flow at all. No mongrel. Were soft Marshmallows.

This season looks to be another year of wasted talent.

Daddoo so sorry you had to start you day watching that tripe effort, so sad being in a position of being bleary eyed and watching that sort of early morning effort to start the day. But take some solace in the fact you got an omlette, eggs being more expensive than Duds salary this year you probably did OK from your friend's fabulous egg cookery, all things considered. At least you didn't lay a stinky egg like the Freo fellas did...

Positives:

• Nice fella in dockers gear said "hey brother don't ruin your suit, sit on this" and handed me a plastic bag to sit on in treasury gardens today as I was about to sit down for lunch
• I decided to go for a relaxing swim and sauna tonight instead of going to Marvel. After trekking to geelong and stewing at the MCG against Melbourne, I've given up on watching them play in Melbourne until evidence is presented to the contrary. And I'm one of those never-say-die freo optimists that blocks out my calendar for every vic game in February.

Negatives:

• I still watched the game at home.

You know what was super noticeable early. MJ and sharp got a heap of the ball in the first qtr on half back. Ross just gave them a mark and every saint rolled back via the corridor, protecting the dangerous space. They knew the next kick would then be long down the line coz sharp and Mj have zero ability to hit a semi difficult 45deg pass. From there they suffocated the crap out of us.

Teams will do this a lot against us now. When MJ plays skinny side wing and sharp plays fat side wing we are impotent. MJ had nine touches in the first qtr, mostly via uncontested marks skinny side and we couldn't move it. Ross knew his man.

Yes so much this - teams know both MJ and JOM will get the ball and the stop, stand still, and wait the full 30 seconds before kicking long, they zone off those guys specifically so they get more of the ball. Every possie MJ gets while he is locked in to this stop, stay, wait, kick long JLo gamestyle actually becomes a kick for the other team.

The final problem is, who comes in and picks up the pieces in a short enough the frame that the club keeps up as a business?

It doesn't matter as much as giving the group as long as possible this year to get this dogshit gamestyle out of their systems. Whoever takes over needs to scrap the lot and just get back to basic fundamentals of the game. Win the ball and try to score when you have it. When you don't harass and pressure, try your guts out to get it back.

Yep. I've accepted we'll never have a young list this talented again in my lifetime, and we'll never have the same chance to win while Wet Toast, Ninthmond, Sydney and Essenscum are all down in talent. Hurts a lot after 30 years of watching and so many victorian based losses, but it is the consequence of having Bell as footy ops and then JLo as unchallenged unmentored coach.

This is the bit that has made me most sad and frankly distraught - after 30 years, the only way we recover from the ineptitude and off pace coaching style of JLo is to get everyone in the squad to unlearn the last 4 years and relearn proper structure, intensity, approaches and game drivers.

Chapman will be 37 before he unlearns the JLo passive gamestyle.

YESSSS!!

Dudsy played out the whole game and was frankly intense and awesome all game. Ideally he would have been subbed off, but good to know he can run the game out off a 6 day break if we get an injury sub.
