The other problem area for me is... the run from defence. When that dries up or our skill level is below par and defenders dont hit midfield targets (as we did yesterday) we're stuffed.

The drive from defence has always been a great feature of the AFC's game when they are at their best. If our defenders were allowed to run straight up the ground, instead of going wide and criss crossing the ball across the field we would be much better off.
Good point, Smart and Hart work famously together, both knowing each others game inside out.
When one is out, our run from defence is noticably absent, when both out, non-existent.
Massie, Torney are not that type of player, Hentshell has, sorry, the potential, maybe Jericho, but it is an issue for discussion.

Of Hentschel's four games so far it was perhaps his second best game.
I thought he was pretty ordinary and was probably his 2nd worst game (after his debut against Sydney). If it wasn't for that goal that he was gifted after a crappy decision to award him a free kick he wouldn't have had a sniff.

Maybe I am being too harsh but I think he can do better.

As probably his biggest supporter on this board, that must hurt you to post those comments.

I agree both were pathetic yesterday.

I think Jezza and Hentschel can provide us with drive (keeping in mind they need to develop as AFL footballers first) out of the backline. If Jezza continues his good form of late he will get a few AFL games under his belt this year. I think his improvement over the pre-season has been astronomical.

Against Brisbane I would play Hentschel at CHB and McGregor at FB against Lynch. Hudson to drop back to block up the space in front of the big fella.

Not really because in my eyes no one is immune to some constructive critisism. I did say that he really didn't get much service yesterday. I still think we should play him as a defender this year.

Thats if Lynch does play?
I would be surprised if Hentshell plays CHB, given Mathews penchant for big bodied KPP.
Would be more likely to pick up Brennan, if thats CHF, so be it.
But they seriously mis-read the timing of Hentshells move to the forward line.

If Lynch doesn't play then Leppa will. Both are match winners in my book.

When Brown is out suspended Matthews always plays Pike at CHF thats why I said I would play Hentschel at CHB. Big ask but someone's got to do it. I think Brennan has too much pace for Hentschel.

I am so not in favour of playing Hentschel as a forward just yet. Play him in defence where he has played his best footy at AFL level to date.

I'm not a huge fan of hent, he has some talent in there but he isnt the best player going around at the crows. Had a pretty lame game on the weekend that decision that resulted in his goal was nothing but SOFT. Like it really helped

I personally dont like Mcleod on the h/f line he would be more use firing through the midfield just like old times but I guess he isnt the machine he used to be, that knee must be getting pretty sore after games. Love seeing him burst out of the centre square evade 5 players and drill it down the throat of a forward (usually D.Jars but he aint there no more)

I reckon we will improve out of sight this week, we often bounce back well after a poor loss but it is Brisbane, not easy at all. Should be a good game with 40,000+ there.
