He was hugely influential for them in the 2nd half of this season, showing he really shouldn't have retired so early to begin with! If they can set up a Giggs style situation where he's not having to play 40 games a season but can provide Fergie with a quality, trusted option off the bench then he will be fulfilling his role. He's also there in a coaching capacity aswell.

Probably has some serious dirt on Fergie. Well that and from what I saw of him he's a solid rotation option at the very least, probably has a kind of mentoring role as well.

Edit: Beaten to it

Don't get me wrong. I'm happy he's staying. But when I first heard the news my immediate reaction was "we better not be ignoring the midfield now." I've since been proven wrong

Baffles me how United strike these deals, Kagawa is an unbelievable signing. Better player than Eden Hazard in my opinion and coming at half price (Hazard will still be a star, but he's very overhyped).

With that said, United fans are kidding themselves if they think he's a Scholes replacement. He'll play the old Scholes role well, where he's in the hole, but you can't expect him to dictate play in the middle of the ground. United should be doing everything they can to sign Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle.

Funny you should say that...

Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye says he is aware of speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United but is focused on the Magpies.
The Frenchman has enjoyed an impressive debut season at St James Park after joining from boyhood club Lille last summer, helping the Toon to a fifth-placed Premier League finish.
His exploits on Tyneside have reportedly drawn admiring glances from Newcastle's top-flight rivals.

ManU do this better than anyone.
They are truly a class above everyone unfotunately :(

kagawa isnt a scholes replacement in the slightest. not sure if that's being insinuated, but they play completely different roles.

Yeah I'm not sure where that comparison is coming from. I think the best EPL comparison is someone like Silva, who is able to drift between both wings and behind the striker. If he can get to that level I'd be delighted.

he'd be a good signing. very harshly sacked from newcastle (although i dont think any newcastle fans would be too unhappy after last season.) he'd be a good fit for norwich.

It's quite funny how that all panned out. When Pardew was sacked from Southampton in favour of Adkins, most were more than a bit baffled. And now look at them. Same situation with Hughton and Newcastle.

Hughton deserves another chance at the Prem and would be an excellent appointment for Norwich. His job at Birmingham last season was very underrated given the financial restraints and amount of matches they played with a Europa campaign and several cup replays.

The lack of multi quote button is rather annoying.

Scholes deserved that new deal, came back and transformed United, and gave them much needed experience in the middle of the park.

Apparently we are going to bid 38million for Bale.

That's how much they signed him for in my FM file :D

FM tells the future. Never doubt it.
