Yeah The Sun. Quite bold from them to announce it was done thus I posted it. They aren't too bad at times.

Too old to go for 40million. 25-30million sounds about right. If he scored more goals then he would be worth more.

it doesnt matter. it's dan levy. he wanted 40 mil for modric last season, didnt get it, he didnt move. he's going to want 40 mil again this season, because he doesnt lower his price ever. plus i highly doubt the deal was concluded while he was on international duty, there wont be any deals with big name players completed over the next couple of weeks (the ones at the tournament). levy didnt budge with berbatov, nor carrick, and he's not going to budge with another of his prized possessions. now if 'arry goes, this could all be thrown out the window.

If he gets sold for 25-30million I'll take a slice of that humble pie.:p

Levy didn't want to sell to a rival eg: Chelsea. 40million was the price to scare them off.
It will happen for 30mill. (My opinion)

Some good dealings with Tottenham in the past....How they got 30million for Berba I'll never know.

There is no chance he's going for 25 million.

The only way he'll end up at United is if they get into his ear and make him demand a trade. The gap between what Utd will offer and what Levy will accept is too big for any situation apart from the above happening.
Like Chelsea did?

but united are a rival (maybe not a london rival) but still a rival nonetheless. unless modric demands to leave once again, i cant see levy budging. and even still promises of signing + another champions league appearance next season might sway him into staying.

there's better players out there anyways for that price. levy isnt worth the hassle.

liverpool have been very quiet about who they're going to sign

sigurdsson is looking like a definite but that's about it

anyone heard any rumours that have any substance to them? i've heard us being linked with dempsey, afellay and sigurdsson. out of those i can only see sigurdsson coming over :(.

I think Modric has had enough. Was desperate to leave last year. Big difference between say Chelsea and Arsenal as a rival and us. They sell to us. I agree though not worth 30-40million which is why I think 25 maybe 28 would do it.

apparently we're getting close to signing sturridge back for 10 mil. if he thinks he's getting limited game time at chelsea, wait till he's 5th in line here.
Almost certain to want out if Hulk signs. Would be a good pickup for 10million. Would take him at Utd.

Reluctance to spend big after the last few years. By rights with the money LFC have spent they should have been challenging for CL. Some poor players were bought.

Modric and Kagawa would certainly bring a more creative, attacking dimension to Utd's midfield that has been sorely lacking for the last few years and remove an over-reliance on working the ball wide to get results. Overall it would provide the team with an ability to play the ball through the middle which is a major failing of the current squad, especially in Europe and against the top few in the EPL.

Still think we need a striker. Don't really have any confidence in Hernandez. After the injury to Keane and the soon to be sale of Berbatov our stocks look a bit thin up front.

Not a lot on offer though.

poor players is an understatement...
hendo, carrol i think will hopefully show a lil bit more this year, but still way way overpriced
and downing had to be the signing of the last year, i cant even joke about that. get that useless git out of liverpool!

That's the issue. Perhaps Kagawa will be played in shifts up front, rotating with Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck, with Modric, if he does sign, playing the creative role in the middle.

Next year I'd expect to see UTD make a big play for a striker if they can't get a cheapie this year. Is it Ba or Cisse with the 7mil release clause?

We could always re-sign Manucho.

i dont see how united need another striker. rooney will slot back into the main striker role with kagawa behind him, and rotate with hernandez and welbeck. giroud is a possibility, but would be about 20 mil, plus wouldnt want to leave montpellier with them just making the champions league.

henderson will come good, especially under rodgers style of play.

downing needs to go though, him and charlie adam. i didn't think his stats were possible for a £20m signing

0 goals, 0 assists, 73 shots on target, 3 missed penalties

Need some depth though.

Welbeck has proven to be a touch fragile to date and Hernandez suffered the second year blues and his impact outside the box is questionable for mine. This points to an over reliance on Rooney at the pointy end. If he goes down then Utd could struggle.

Was thinking similar. It would be worth a crack at a push. Young has played that role too so I guess we could get away with not getting another.

Yeah, it has been slow for them...but I guess since we wont have the transfer cash or ability to attract big name signings we need to be a bit patient and gets the deals right for mid tier players.

Still I wouldnt mind some good news with signings soon...Sigurdsson looks a lock in, as he and Rogers continue to share the love in the media
