Tomasz Kuszczak signs for Brighton and Hove Albion.

Should do well in the Championship.

Isnt that practically what Man city did? Turned over a squad in about 18 months? Im sure we can make top 4.

4 years, we went from 9th to 10th to 5th to 3rd to 1st.

It didn't happen overnight.

City down in 10th, those were the days!

Unlike Mancini, Di Matteo for me still hasn't proven he can manage a squad that size with that many egos over the length of a full season, buying superstar players is really only half the battle. There's still no guarantees his 'sit back and hit them on the counter' playing style will be successful outside a cup competition and Chelsea actually lost ground in the chase for 4th under Di Matteo. I can still see Chelsea making the top 4, but City and United will fight it out at the top again in 2012/13. 2 squads with players that know eachother and their playing style inside out, and requiring only minor personnel changes.

True, but Chelsea aren't starting from nearly as far back as Man City did. Top 4 should be more than achievable.

I think top 4 is certainly achievable for them. But I can't see them being in a title race just yet.

RDM still has the problem of trying to ease Lampard and Terry out of the side. When that happens, people there stop playing.

mind boggling numbers for drogba. good on him. bullied arsenal for fun over the last few years, magnificent footballer at his peak

why? City bought a bunch of players and told them to play together, and im talking the likes of Ballotelli, dzeko, agureo, Nasri, silva, etc, only recently bought players, and look what happened.

These guys wernt in your side when you were tenth, they came in on the brink of something special.

Lol at the guy saying City didn't change overnight, you bought the league. Enough said.

If you wanted to give people the impression you are an imbecile it certainly is enough said.

The point for those less thick than you, is that you can buy as many players as you like, but you'll can't put together a team capable of winning a league title in one season.

Hart, Zabaleta, Richards, Lescott, Kompany, Kolo Toure, De Jong, Barry, Tevez were signed by Hughes or earlier.

Johnson, Kolarov, Silva, Yaya Toure, Milner, Balotelli have been at the club two years or more.

Aguero, Nasri and Clichy are the only new players.

Over half of our best XI were already at the club, or joined after our 10th place finish.

Still think saying that it will be hard for our players to gell together and "do well to finish top 4" is a bit ironic from a Man city fan. Anything is possible. I still believe we can win the league.

Not sure why you find it ironic. It took a good three years for our team and players to gel and get to the stage where we are. As I've been saying for the past three years anyone it was never going to happen overnight for us, and I don't expect it will for Chelsea either.

Don't know why this upsets people, I'm not saying they aren't heading in the right direction or have made bad signings. But let's not kid ourselves, 5 places and 25 points is a big ask, particularly when the sides above will be looking to improve their squads as well.

I personally think Chelsea will make top 4 next season, and think that will be a good step forward for them.

Chelsea have more of a squad than City did originally though. Chelsea won the league 2 years ago, and the champions league last year. It'll take much, much less to get them to a title winning team then it did City. Next season isn't without possibility.

Not sure their squad now is any better than the City one that finished 5th. They may have won a title two years ago but of the 98 goals scored in that campaign, 54 came from players no longer at the club and 27 came from Lampard, Terry, Essien who are on their last legs as top level footballers. Champions League last year means nothing in the context of next seasons league.

Anything may happen in football, but I'd be amazed if they came close to the title.

The only thing that has to gel is its front 3 as that is where Marin, Hazard and Hulk will be expected to play. The midfield, defense, GK will all remain the same. Not a luxury Man City ever faced. Its alot easier to develop cohesion and understanding upfront then it is in any other parts of the pitch. Look at the partnership Rooney and Wellbeck struck up after such a short time in the starting side together.

Another reason I think it will be easier is because across Chelseas front 3 you got gloryhogs(but in a good way) who can pretty much score goals on there lonesome without involving the rest of the strikeforce. IMO Chelsea will line up like

Cech
Luiz Terry Cole
Ivanovic Lampard Ramires Mata
Hulk Torres Hazard

Turnbull Cahill Bertrand Essien Meireles Marin Sturridge

More of a 3-4-3 lineup in the league with more onus on scoring goals and a defensive back 3. Cole isnt getting much protection but hes one of the few players in the world who can play LB alone without any help, he is just that strong defensively. Terry will do his role well. Some will say Luiz cant defend well enough to play in a 3 man defense. IMO he will prove people wrong. Can even switch and change with Ivanovic too. While Ivanovic isnt a natural wide man he still provides alot of width when he wants too. Can swap with Luiz in that role too really.

Chelsea will be challenging for the title next year.

I actually fear United could take a dip.

And they will unless they sort the centre of midfield out. IMO they got somewhat lucky with Carrick playing the season of his Man United career + Scholes coming back mid season. Dont think you can rely on Carrick playing like that year in year out or Scholes stepping up to the plate once again for a full season this time (incl Champs League).
