Ive never rated Lavezzi that highly. Decent player but I wouldnt want to spend that kind of money on him.

Off you go, go find where I said Downing was a great buy for 20 million. I was never happy with buying Downing, I was appalled by how much we spent. So having got that out of the way.

Not really. Remember they call it the transfer 'market'. A 'market' in which Downing went for close to 20 million. So considering this and the fact Lavezzi plays in the same position it certainly becomes relevant in the discussion as for whether 25 million is too much. Also remember how much Mata went for. The price is fair and about right, all things considered. (including Liverpool overpaying for Downing)

PSG are building a strong side. They will be a genuine threat in Europe which is good for European competition really. Having someone outside of Milan/Inter/Bayern/Chelsea/Manchester United/Real/Barca as a genuine contender is a good thing. (same story with City as with PSG)

interested to see how they make up revenue, playing in paris will always be a factor for signings, i assume some players will be leaving, but yeah, they are building a very strong side.

and cavani's overrated imo. i think he'll struggle without lavezzi (if he stays at napoli, which is unlikely). lavezzi is the guy that sets up a lot of his goals.

When you put like that then yeah I guess you are right. It's an inflated market. Neither are really worth that much, particularly Downing.

Its still too much money. People were bitching about Dempseys age. Lavezzi is 1 year younger and is ending his career at Boca Juniors. Id look at him in the same way as a Kagawa type of player. These players need the right players around them too be effective.

His signing will be a waste if they dont sign a world class striker to accomodate him. I severely doubt he is going to play on a wing as opposed to a role behind the lone striker. In that situation its imperative they bring in a Higuain or player of equal quality.

In reality Carrick should be back up to Modric in that line up, but is the best option currently out of him, Fletch, Jones and Anderson to play the holding role. Personally I think a fit, motivated and not fat Anderson could be really effective in that position but I don't see that happening. In a year or two maybe Jones will take over that position.

I reckon that if Modric is brought to the club that there will not be any more purchases of ready made players for the middle of the park this year. Any future strengthening will be dependent on how the existing players perform and develop over the course of the next 12 months.

From what i have read we are trying to sign Jordi Alba from Valencia and do a cash plus player deal involving Anderson.
Also enquired about Kevin Strootman from PSV for that CDM role.

Alba will most likely be Barca bound I'd say. If Nani leaves perhaps Anderson and cash to Benfica for Gaitan might be back on the cards as we would be short a winger, although I'm not sold on Gaitan.

As for Strootman I think there are quite a few clubs keeping an eye on him but PSV have stated that they are not going to consider selling him just yet.

Id target Mauorane Fellaini. Proven PL quality. Will help out immensly with set pieces and his physical presence is exactly what is needed in this league

Yeah, I'm a Fellaini fan, and although he can play a deep lying role I think his best position might be a bit more forward of centre, and not what United really need if Modric joins Kagawa. A deep lying, aggressive tackler and distributor is badly needed.

Fellaini played forward of centre when Rodwell played in the team and he was very poor. Once Rodwell got injured and he went back to the DCM role he was immense. That is his role really.

yeah they reckon they would listen to offers starting around $25mill but it would be more. Juventus have over $100m to spend this summer apparently.
