Would hate to see him leave, he has been immense for us since about the time Kenny took over in January 2011. Not flashy by any means, but a true, hard-edged, old-fashioned defender. I think he is very underrated, probably suffering from having a relatively low profile for a player at a "big" club. Definitely one of the best defenders in the Premier League and would be a good signing for any team.

Skrtl to City rumours have never gone away. And despite the denial theres been a feeling around for three or four weeks that he was willing to look elsewhere.

Personally I wouldn't pay more than £10-15m (or Johnson and a few million), but he would be an improvement on Kolo and Savic so wouldn't be too upset. Doesn't really fit the age profile of our typical signings and I think for that price there are better options about.

92% of all rumours start here, forfty percent of all people know that.
Serious though regarding Walcott, don't mind either way. Depends on how much. I rate him more as a sub than starting.
Not sure about Gervinho yet either. Maybe one of the 3.4 billion people we are linked to might be better.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it - but apparently Troisi very close to signing for Juventus? Strange if true.
They want to loan him to the club that has Veratti (good on FM) and buy Veratti from them for 2.5m.

Ox should be starting ahead of Theo IMO, having said that though, Theo has just come off his best season so can't see him being dropped. I also would be open to the move if the fee was decent.

There was a great quote from the 2010/11 season when Torres had just left for Chelsea. There had been speculation that Agger was going to be leaving after his vocal criticism of Roy Hodgson and a journalist asked him if he'd considered following Torres out the door. Agger's response showed both his dislike for Fernando and his love for the club: "I'm no rat leaving the ship". I think if his best mate Skrtel left now he'd probably go round to his house and headbutt him.

There are certainly players for whom loyalty is not guaranteed, but these 2 do not fall under that category. Neither have ever given an indication that they are anything other than happy at Liverpool. If they stuck with the club when it was at it's lowest, near the bottom of the table under Hodgson then I think it's very unlikely they'd want to leave now and as I said earlier, I would hope the club does not buckle if they receive a big offer for either of them because we've seen how difficult they found it to replace Alonso, Mascherano and Torres.

A bid of £10-15m from City would not even raise an eyebrow considering it took £22m to move Lescott and Kolo Toure was bought for£16m.

flamini was getting paid about 130k a week too. he'd be a decent player for a lot of clubs if he toned down his demands.
**** him. Couldn't care less about him now.

Will Seedorf retire or head off into the sunset for a big pay day in the Middle East or USA or something?
One of the most respectable players ever to play the game. Absolutely fantastic. Wouldn't matter where he went, wouldn't lose any respect either way in my mind.

I like how you choose two transfers that were vastly overpriced to compare Skrtl against, but ignore transfers like Vidic £6m, Kompany £6m, Cahill £7m etc.

But at the same time when you talk Adam Johnson I bet you're not saying "he's better than Downing, and we paid £20m for him so £25m it is".

If £10-15m doesn't raise an eyebrow then I'm happy to leave him on the sinking ship. We'll get better value elsewhere.

Cahill was in the last year of his contract and would've gone for nothing 5 months later, so £7m for him was vastly underpriced (there were quotes ranging from £15-20m the previous summer). Vidic and Kompany were taken from smaller European clubs which history tells us generally means they can be acquired for a far lower price than their EPL equivalents.

Skrtel was initially purchased for £7m and he has no doubt improved since then, winning our Player Of The Season award this year. In addition he plays for a big English club who will not be willing to let him go easily. In light of this, yes, £10-15m wouldn't raise an eyebrow so you're right, City will be far better served looking outside the EPL. Pleasure doing business with you, we should be in charge of all City-Liverpool negotiations. In any case, I have a feeling this is being stirred up to give him more leverage for a pay increase.

The highest bid for Cahill the previous summer was £6m.

He has improved, hence his value (IMO) going up from £7m to £10-15m. Potentially doubled in value right there. I think he has just the two years left on his contract so that value is going to drop pretty quick unless he is willing to re-sign. But his value is based on what he is worth, not what Joleon Lescott or Kolo Toure were worth three years ago. If Liverpool think that £15m is not worth considering then good luck to them as far as I'm concerned. Thats every clubs perogative.

I suspect you might be right about the pay rise thing anyway.

Kaka being allowed to negotiate with other clubs...possible move back to Milan, possible move to the MLS, and a possible move to Chelsea - Abramovich has always loved him.

How much does a Kaka cost these days?

Would be great if he came to the Premier League, could Spurs do a Modric trade with Real for him somehow?
