Nuri is not a holding mid.
He would have to play with either Sandro or Parker in that back two. He isn't an out and out attacking mid so I think he'd be fine with a role like that

As for the Spurs vs Liverpool thing. Yeah they've got the history but we've got the better squad and if he wants to win things at this stage he'd be more than likely do that with us. As for wages he is a young player with half a breakout season behind him so that won't be a problem for us either

History dominates the thinking of Liverpool FC fans, but means very little to anyone else. And for all your 'istreeee, you haven't won a league for nearly quarter of a century, and haven't come close to qualifying for the champions league for three years now. Those things will have much more effect on a modern day footballers thinking than a period of success 30/40 years ago.

History actually means everything to everybody otherwise we wouldnt be able to tell anything about the future.

People who follow clubs like yours downplay history, for the simple fact that you dont have a very good one.

Why would he be more likely to win things with you guys? Remind me when exactly did Spurs win their last trophy?

I looked it up. Last time you won a trophy was the League Cup in 2008. Before that, the League Cup in 1999. Before that, the FA Cup in 1991. By that, you're right, shoo in to win several trophies in the next year or two because Spurs are averaging one trophy per 10 or so years. End sarcasm.

lol. He is a player in the same vein as Cesc etc, why would you buy someone like that and play them where they wouldn't flourish? Pointless.

How many titles did Liverpool win in the 22 years before 1990?

Did that tell us much about what was going to happen in the next quarter of a century?

We have a cracking history by the way.

You

You finished what 7th or 8th last season. Either wouldn't be an under achievement for the side you have

And as for history effecting where players go that must be why Nottingham Forrest is signing all those world class talents!

No it didnt but have we been relegated to League 1? Or have we continued a winning tradition that has seen us bring FA Cups, League Cups, European Cup and a UEFA Cup to our trophy cabinets despite our shortcomings in the league.

Your history is below average. Unlucky for you.

Bienvenue, Oliver!

3 Trophies since 1990. Nice effort. You guys are a shoo in to bring heaps of trophies to WHL in the next couple of years. Well either world football domination or you go backwards without Redknapp. Also hugely debatable whether or not you have a better squad that us.

Your clearly overlooking recent history in that assessment. Three consecutive seasons of mediocrity are not erased by achievements undertaken decades ago, otherwise people would be placing Blackburn ahead of Liverpool on the basis of the number of Premier League titles they've won, rather than look at them as the basket-case that they are. The only thing that really counts is the present and at the moment Spurs are ahead of Liverpool.

Why would people put Blackburn ahead of Liverpool because they won a title? We won 18 of them? Ohhh wait you like to think the First Division title is different to a Premier League title. Name change and it's a different competition right? Lolz...

Why are Spurs currently ahead of us? Are they competing in the CL this season? Do they have a better squad than us? Debatable. They dont even have a manager and Modric is probably off.

jod rambling on about history again, what a surprise..

Liverpool have gone through their 3rd consecutive season without a top 4 finish and they've done nothing to suggest they're on the way up. Spurs on the other hand have finished top 4 twice in the last 3 seasons (even though one of those was complete failure) and we still have a much better squad than Liverpool. Looking at it from Sigurdsson's perspective, we'd be a much more attractive prospect providing we can pay the right price.

If we don't get Sigurdsson, I'm still hopeful for the Sahin+Cash for Modric deal. Makes perfect sense for both teams.

Congratulations, but you're still yet to win one since the Premier League started. Look at Spurs' recent record, they easily finished ahead of you this season, therefore they were better than you, as they have been for the last 3 years.

on what planet is van der vaart not a better player than gerrard these days?
and as a lone striker adebayor would be better, especially in that formation.
In fairness I did put a question mark at the end of the post questioning my own selections. And Adebayor is not a Spurs player anymore.

PMSL. The fact that you define a 130 year old clubs history as above or below average shows that you have no real understanding of the soul of football and football clubs. Like a lot of your fellow sky 4 supporters you think history can be written with a calculator.

Unlucky me? Our past makes our present so much more special.

And I'm fairly sure I would have preferred celebrating our league win last season than reminisce about successes that happened before I even knew about the club.

fair enough mate. don't think gerrard has achieved or done anything substantial for a few years. glimpses of his quality but in between injuries and age he hasn't been that great. vdv has definitely been superior.
I suppose Suarez is a must then. His competition is Defoe and Carroll ....
