The 2013 Bye rounds

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Just had a go at nutting it out then and looking like ill be able to field 19/19/19 over the 3 byes.

Plan at the moment is to trade in Ball and Heppell this week for Sam Mitchell and B.Goodes. The following week to trade in Barlow and Nicholls for Evans and Blicavs. Week 3 Lyons to Bartel and a cash grab tbd.

Leaving me with a team after the bye something like

Backs: Goddard, Heppell, Gibbs, Birchall, Ellis, Vlastuin (Terlich, Laird)

Mids: Ablett, Swan, Pendles, Ball, Jack, S.Selwood, Barlow, JOM (Crouch, Hrovat)

Rucks: Cox, Kreuzer (Nicholls, Currie)

Forwards: S.J, Bartel, Stokes, Buddy, Rockliff, J.K (Staker, Lee)

After a shocking start hoping to climb a few places through the bye rounds and beyond.

Planned over the past few weeks to have 14 R13 players then each week from now on, I'll trade in R11 then R12 players. Easeh.

The bye's started influencing my trades around a month ago, should be okay.

Bye 1
DEF: Goddard, Gibbs, Thurlow
MID: Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Watson, JPK, O’Meara, Evans
RUC: Blicavs, Gorringe
FWD: S.Johnson, N.Riewoldt, Bartel, Cox, JJK, Macaffer
Available: 18

Bye 2
DEF: Goddard, Birchall, Gibbs, Hartlett, Vlastuin, Goodes
MID: Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Watson, S.Mitchell, Fyfe, O’Meara, Neade
RUC: Gorringe
FWD: Martin, Franklin, Macaffer
Available: 18 + 2 trades

Bye 3
DEF: Birchall, Hartlett, Vlastuin, Goodes, Thurlow
MID: S.Mitchell, JPK, Fyfe, Evans, Neade
RUC: Cox, Blicavs
FWD: Stevie.J, N.Riewoldt, Bartel, Martin, JJK, Franklin
Available: 18 + 2 trades

Spent a long time looking over my team to try and work out the best way to go about it. At the moment I am looking at going:

Viney -> K.Martin
O'Meara -> S.Selwood

Have exactly 18 on the field if Dwyer gets up and there is no rests/injuries this week which I doubt. Selwood comes in with a round 12 bye to help come round 13.

Next week:

Wines -> Horvat
Scotland -> D.Martin (Staker moved to the back line)

Sideways-ish trade. Scotland looks cooked and he has the round 13 bye alongside Gibbs and Goddard. Staker moves back with his round 11 bye and I have 20 players on the field with a spare on the back bench.

Week after:

Mayes -> T.Mitchell
Pittard -> Birchall

If Pittard is named (which I highly doubt) then he will remain and I will use that trade elsewhere.

That leaves me with 17 players on the field with one donut and relying on no injuries and the selections of Hovrat, T.Mitchell and Blicavs.

Now I do have options to try and get rid of that zero but that would require the sideways trading of say a M.Murphy to a round 11/12 premium which isn't particularly what I want to do at this stage.

With those trades I would get my desired 7 premium midfield (although some aren't living up to their premium status) with K.Martin, Hovrat and T.Mitchell all in my side.

It would also mean Leuenburger sits on my bench for the entire time. Some big decisions to make.

I went the 9 9 12 strategy for the buys.

20 available week 1. week 2, trade 2 round 13 players out, bring in 2 round 11 so 20 available week 2. Week 3 trade 2 round 13 players out. so I will be looking easy. will even be able to cop a few injuries.

to make the 9 9 12 strategy work,
this week m.jones to hrovat (he has a bye but mehh), thurlow to kyle martin.

next week i have 550k to play with so upgrading 2 of whitfield, dwyer, lucas, o'meara,

the week after bring in tom mitchell and someone else.

too easy. I may have to change this weeks trades if both dwyer and lucas dont play again. But I will still have 18 fit players so I could take the gamble. with no cover.

Was in the process of a big writeup, accidently deleted it

Im not sure what the **** im going to do

Something like this I guess

Evans -> Kyle Martin
Brett Goodes -> Hrovat

Then

Blicavs/Sinclair -> Nicholls
Whitfield -> Cotchin

Then

O'Meara -> SSelwood/Masten/Swallow
Scotland -> Premium back/Forward if I switch Staker or Bellchambers -> Bartel (Cox to rucks)

Teams will decide a lot of course

Finally have the time, and am willing to put the effort, into DT for the first time in six years.

Had no idea/didn't even think about the bye rounds until it came up yesterday...so I'm officially screwed!

It's going to be a bloodbath :(

If all goes to plan (which it won't), I should have 19/19/20 available during the bye rounds. I will need Thurlow (only rnd 11), Ben Kennedy and T.Mitchell to get games and Rockliff/Viney to come back after their respective byes.

I am looking to get rid of Leuey, Kommer, Boloney, Lecrap, Scotland and JOM.

I am sweating on the availability of Thurlow, Dwyer and Crouch this week.

Agreed. If Thurlow, Cloke, Dwyer and Lucas play, I'll even have trade options this week.... Options I tell you....

If not, I'm officially screwed....

Copping a 0 in round 12 and 2 in round 13. Trades should cover them but that only depends on my players being avail. Matches will most likely be decided by my erratic Port rookies :confused:

This week:

Dwyer > Cloke
Daw > Nicholls

Round 12:

Jones > Barlow
Evans > Martin/Hrovat

Round 13:

O'Meara > Scooter
Mayes > Mitchell

Will then wait until Pendles drops to trade Hodge to Pendles, will have hopefully what is a top 9 midfielder midfield. Goodes > Heppell hopefully, Scotland > Hanley.

Any idea on the likeliness of that happening? He has been out for a while now so I would have thought he would come back through the seconds.

yeah if the Dees weren't playing so well they might rush him straight back in... o_O

I don't think bringing in a first year midfielder who might not be able to run out the game will help all that much. Regardless of how Melbourne are travelling, I wouldn't think they would rush him back if his fitness is lacking.

was having a bit of a laugh at the Dees expense, they should be looking after their key assets - agreed.

At the moment have this setup. Trades this week look along the lines of Goodes/Hodge -> Malceski, Lonergan -> Mitchell. Next week I will look to bring in Nicholls for Rowe/Currie.

Round 11:

Def: Goddard, Heppell, Hibberd, Malceski, Thurlow
Mid: Ablett, Swan, Watson, S.Selwood, J.P.Kennedy, O'Meara, Crouch, T.Mitchell
Ruck: Cox, Goldstein
Fwd: Bartel, J.J.Kennedy, S.Johnson, Macaffer, B.Kennedy

20 Players overall.

Round 12:

Def: Goddard, Heppell, Hibberd, Birchall, Ellis, Vlaustin
Mid: Ablett, Swan, Watson, Goodes/Hodge, Barlow, O'Meara, Crouch
Ruck: Nicholls
Fwd: Lewis, Rockliff, Staker, Macaffer, B.Kennedy

19 + 1 Trade overall.

Round 13:

Def: Birchall, Ellis, Vlaustin, Thurlow, Malceski
Mid: Barlow, S.Selwood, J.P.Kennedy, T.Mitchell, Goodes/Hodge
Ruck: Cox, Goldstein
Fwd: Bartel, J.J.Kennedy, S.Johnson, Lewis, Rockliff, Staker

18 + 2 Trades Overall.

Plenty to think about still, but as of my trades this week, should hopefully be okay to cover the byes. Might look to bring in Roughead / Nic Nat possibly into the forward line for Macaffer/Kennedy in Round 13 to open up a handy DP link with the rucks. Hvorat could come in next week for me as well as another Round 11 premium into the mids to help compensate for the lack of Ablett, Swan and Watson in Round 13.

Should be a very interesting couple of weeks, especially with bloody uni exams around the corner as well...
