Are you a regular on Talking Carlton, Carlton Supporters Club and social media?

I guess you could get a new username to go with your last one that was banned.

I regularly watch Carlton FC. We have a low football IQ players who go missing too often in games.

I live in reality, maybe you live in sycophant land.

Obvious we didnt rate him as a standout. And also that we're looking for instant inside mids. Too many babies on our list already.

Nope. Roos stated on the night it was simply a numbers game. 'While Kelly would be good, we can get 2 players for 1'.

+1 the recruiting set up at Carlton is a mess.

I mean they bring in a guy from Geelong to help fix it, then get rid of him when they don't like what they hear. Probably the least professional club in the AFL and it really shows in the match day performances of some of their high profile draft picks in the last few years.

You seem to think you know how Carltons run better than the supporters and people running the show got no doubt they did well this season with their trades and drafting so whats your real issue?
When you talk matchday performances look at your own bunch before making comments like that i loved the Gold Coast game.

Geelong picking Lang was the highlight for me. He is going to be a gun and you would have expected the Cats to have a bit of first hand insight into how good his inside/outside game is and the upside given rapid improvement.
Yeah I'm not suggesting that he's not to be really good, as those Wells picks invariably are, but it's more that I doubt very much that Lang was in our top 18 or so, which means that if he wasn't we got to pick someone that we rated higher than if Geelong had grabbed say Acres or Dunstan, who we ended up picking. That's why I was so happy. I'd suggest both clubs will be very, very happy with who they got.

Giants without doubt; best KPF, best mid, best KPD, best ruck. Game, set, match!

So says SOS

Credit to the Dogs too.

They took Bontempelli a few spots higher than his current worth much in the same way we did Pendlebury. Hopefully they are rewarded for their bravery.
Rumour has it pies were keen at 6
Preferred The Berg or Aish, but we'll see .

winners probably saints , don't rate collingwoods picks as much as everyone else think freeman is overrated , brisbane cleaned up aswell , kangas with mcdonald and dumont and hawks with the reward vs risk pick in garlett could be the steal of the draft

Agree and not unhappy with Dumont at 30, although i would have liked to see Garlett in the Blue and White. Big steal by the Hawks.

Happy with Garlett. Isn't he Top 5-10 on talent if he can get his head right? I'm sure he'll be ok with us as we have mentors like Rioli and Burgers who he can relate to. They have already been over to have a talk to him prior to the draft.
I thought we would have gone for an inside mid instead of Hartung but from the mocks it looks like he was rated around 15-20 which is why we didn't pass him up. I trust Graham made the "Wright" call :P
On Sicily was rated around 30 so to get him for 56 was good. Can't say I know much about him

Also with drafting outside players in Hartung and Garlett I think it shows how much we internally rate Hallahan, Woodward and Anderson coming through

As for value for picks:
i have Geelong and Sydney higher than some. happy for Aliir Aliir and pretty stoked for Jared Jansen, he's going to fit right in at the cats (no bias.. honest). Brisbane were the standout on names basis however their test will be and always was going to be as to how strong this draft actually is, their big bonus was they took some quality KPD's and i quite rate that group this year. Not sold on Richmonds draft nor Carlton paying 13 for Cripps and Saints first 2 although the acres at 19 is a nice pick up. as for port i am happy we picked up some speed and needs. needs based drafting on speedsters and flankers seems to work really well late in drafts, probably didn't get any steals we picked everyone in their expected range just a good list balancing draft and hope a few come on.

Bad thing about rating the draft is that straight away every team thinks they have walked away a winner - you won't find too many disgruntled threads made the next day. However obviously that's not the case. In reality I believe apart from the top 9(ish)picks there's a lot of smoke around most of the players being hit or miss. Look at previous drafts (pre 2005) and you'll be saying to yourself "who" a fair few times after pick 15ish.

To completely disregard my first paragraph I'd say collingwood and gws are the clear winners. Collingwood with berg/freeman is such a good drafting period for a team that finished 6th(?) - I also rate Marsh quite well as well. Gws is obvious - don't quite understand the McCarthy pick but I'm sure there's a plan. I'd say saints as well but I'm too biased. Hawthorn could also be an extremely big winner for premiers as well.

Kicking looks very rushed, doesn't really have an inside game, doesn't really kick goals, doesn't really rack up possessions. Seems to get a lot of hype just based on his speed.

Fair enough! Hope you're wrong but I guess time will tell :P

You mean hie doesn't have an outside game, right? He can get plenty of the pill but he just doesn't do it consistently enough. He does some goals but he often shanks a couple of kicks on goal every week.

He needs to do some serious work on his kicking, outside game and decision making.

I certainly wouldn't have used a top 10 pick on him. But I guess Collingwood are in the position where they can probably afford to do so. They've already got a few good young midfielders in Beams, Thomas, Karnezis, Adams. Pendlebury is only 25 if I am correct and they've got a couple of youngsters who can potential make the move into the midfield or at least spend a bit of time in there.
