Now that I think about it... If Ryan Lester didn't miss from 10 meters out with 5 seconds to go to win the game against Geelong in rd23, we wouldn't of had pick 7 in this draft! If that kick went through, we would of leap frogged 2 or 3 teams and ended up with pick 10 or so. Thank you very much Ryan Lester, you are responsible for the recruiting of a future club champion, James Aish. If your kick went through, we would of ended up with a dud like Freeman.

if i was you i'd buy Lester a beer for allowing you guys to get Aish lol

Happy with what my club did as we seem quite polarizing in this thread. I think if Freeman's going to make it he's as good a chance in our system as any clubs.

As to overall winners it's hard for me to go past GWS or St Kilda. Though I despise them I really liked what the Saints did with those late teen picks, Acres especially.

Brisbane did well. Hope they do a good job of developing Aish for us.

Happy with how Crows did. Got Crouch - the perfect Scott Thompson replacement. Riley Knight looks promising as well.

Doing a bang up job developing Rich for West Coast. Unfortunately for them he doesn't want to go home. ;)

So aside from future prospects, what teams can actually improve their list in 2014 with draftees? Obviously Boyd comes to mind with GWS, could come straight in and help them win a few more games. As for Hawthorn, assuming a healthy list I can't see anyone breaking into the best 25 next year. You could make a case for Garlett, but there are a fair few others with long VFL apprenticeships that would be hard to leapfrog.

I'd suspect Kelly will have the most impact on GWS unless Boyd is surprisingly good.
Brisbane's midfield prospects (Aish, Taylor, Cutler) might demand some playing time in what was a fairly shallow midfield.
The Saints is the other one - solely midfield prospects in an area where they're lacking depth behind Montagna, Hayes and Steven.

Curious as to your logic on why Kelly will have more impact than Boyd next season? From what I've seen from Boyd he will trouble established defenders while Kelly is just another outside midfielder.

I'm offended as an aboriginal and think this is a disgusting post.
My interpretation of that comment was that he was implying that the hawks now have 4 very fast, nimble players and that you'd never be able to catch them to get the ball back once it leaves congestion, but I could be wrong.

KPFs historically haven't been very impactive at all in their first year. Cameron's second year is just about unprecedented amongst KPFs. I don't think Boyd will buck the trend given those who have come before him over the last 20 years and haven't been able to.

I suspect Kelly will be approached similar to Whitfield - play almost every game with the occasional rest. I think Kelly probably 20ish games, including 10-15 good ones. Boyd probably plays upwards of 15 goals but maybe five or so good ones.

Now you're just making words up.

Yep that was what the comment meant and not the start of a racist manifesto about sherrin stealing.

Unsure if serious given the lack of smiley evidence, but...

impactive
adjective

  1. 1.
having a strong effect or influence; making an impression.

That's because you're a dorks support and just very arrogant?

wouldn't say arrogant would say it's just a personal opinion, if i was arrogant i would of only said hawks absolutely smashed it but if you could read you would see i listed other teams that i thought did a good job , only time will tell hey
