Brisbane - How could you go wrong with that many live picks? Getting Aish and Taylor will really help their midfield.
St Kilda - Building the core of a very good midfield.
Collingwood - Can't complain with Scharenberg, Freeman i'm not sold on, Marsh and Langdon could become anything. Only time can tell if the pies are the winners or not. From a glance it really does look like Brisbane have taken the cake this year.

Don't like what GWS did, too many talls. (Unless they want to send Patton home to us)

See "Richmond 2004" and "Melbourne 2009".

Templeton?? Tsitas??? Battersby?? Wow. Don't even recall seeing Conlon? Thought at least 2 of them would go top 40

All for One

I wouldn't mind any of them three on our rookie list. Thought they would have got selected.

Why is no-one rating Sydney's draft? Think the Saints and they were the clear winners followed by Brisbane.

Jones looks great, Hewett could be a Parker type and Nankervis probly best fwd/ruck in the draft. Allir Allir the only questionable one.

Seems like there will be a fair bit of talent left come next wednesday's rookie draft, for me there a couple of very unlucky boys who missed out but will surely be rookied next week.

Unlucky Ones

James Battersby
Darcy Hourigan
Eli Templeton
Micheal Gibbons
Chris Cain
C Conlon

Just to name a few

Biggest Suprises for me was

GWS loading up on key fowards, now they have Cameron, Patton, Boyd, Mccarthy, Tomilson, Jaksch

J.Marsh going 77

Matt Fuller and Nathan Gordon both going earlier than expected probaly thought rookie for both

Whats everyone elses thoughts?

GWS is very odd, although it could pay dividends. KPFs are speculative (even the high picks), so it seems they are bringing in as many as possible, expecting most to fail.

How can anyone judge whether a team has 'won' or 'lost' a draft at this point in time is beyond me.

Easy, 40 second YouTube videos.

big loser is probably freo.

wa teams continue to pass on good talent for inferior wa talent

1) None of the players drafted have ever played AFL, good job being able to judge us as being the big loser.

2) None of our pickups were from WA - 2 x Tasmanians and a Victorian.

But thanks anyway, our drafting in the last 5 years has probably been top 5 in the AFL, I trust our recruiting team.

list the clubs with what they picked and try and rate their overall draft

Haw - Hartung, Garlett, Sicily (8/10) with the picks we had did very well

1. St.K. 10/10
2. GWS 9/10
3. Coll/Haw/Pt Adel/Syd/Western 8/10

Not biased at all. LMAO.

Hmmm, not sure where you are coming from. Picked directly to our needs.

Apeness pretty close to plug and play, best marking KPF available, best kick for goal available.

Pearce a decent develing KPP with plenty of upside, great fitness base and nice skill set.

Grey at pick 58 has nice speed, great leap and few nice tricks.

None from WA.

Yep, Sheed has no potential, and all of those WA boys Freo picked are spuds

Carl - Cripps, Giles, Holman (6/10) giles is the standout cripps is ok
Coll - Scharenberg, N. Freeman, Langdon, Marsh (8/10) did well for the picks they had
Ess - Merrett, Fantasia (6/10) merrett is decent
Frem - Apeness, A. Pearce, B. Grey (4/10) smokeys everywhere
Geel - Lang, Jansen, J. Kolodjashnij (7/10) they did ok
GC - K. Kolodjashnij, Leslie, Lemmens (5/10) other than K.K were very random
GWS - Boyd, Kelly, McCarthy, Lobb (9/10) quality with all picks
Haw - Hartung, Garlett, Sicily (8/10) with the picks we had did very well
Melb - Salem, J. Kennedy-Harris, J. Hunt (5/10) not a great draft
North - McDonald, Dumont, B. Brown (7/10) got 2 great kids with first 2 picks
Pt Adel - Impey, Harvey, Byrne-Jones, Amon (8/10) impey was a bit weak first pick, but all 4 are of value
Rich - Lennon, Gordon, Lloyd (5/10) lennon good
St.K. - Billings, Dunston, Acres (10/10) couldn't get any better imo
Syd - Z. Jones, Hewett, Nankervis, Aliir (8/10) 3 great picks
WCE - Sheed, Karpany, Barrass, Main (7/10) sheed and karpany good picks
Western - Bontempelli, Fuller, Honeychurch (8/10) solid draft

1. St.K. 10/10
2. GWS 9/10
3. Coll/Haw/Pt Adel/Syd/Western 8/10

anyone else want to make some rankings of how they thought the teams went?

Initially I was a little nonplussed with our picks, but on reflection, I like it. Jones-Defender/mid hard at it, Hewett-underage mid, could grow a little and has nice skills Nankervis-just what we need, a slightly older ruck who played seniors in Tassie, could step in if needed. Aliir Aliir however...could be something..

i should have been clearer. i have no problem with the sheed selection. have no problem with the barrass selection. the other two west coast selection i dont get

i dont get the pick 6 downgrade either. could have had scharenberg or aish

They were always getting Sheed - they downgraded because they knew that he would still be there. Are the other 2 West Coast selections from WA?

Nice effort mate - and I agree with most of your comments, particularly St Kilda who I think chose very well for their needs.

I think the Demons took best available with Salem - and we traded down to add Dom Tyson to our list along with him. We also get Hogan coming onto our list this year so although we didn't technically draft these guys tonight, I'm pretty happy with what we've done to our list.

so why pass on someone like scharenberg or aish? i love sheed but i wouldnt have him ahead of those two

Pretty much worked out as Pick 6 for Sheed and Yeo. Pretty good work by West Coast, even if it meant letting those black and white bastards higher up the draft order.

Scharenberg they don't particularly need - WC have a dearth of flankers (Hurn, Butler, Smith, Brennan) to set them from half back. Aish I can agree with, but I don't see a problem with WC taking the best available west australian mid.
