COMBAT footballer David Swallow’s position on the Suns’ frontline has been secured until the end of 2017.
The 21-year old has accepted the offer of a new three-year deal worth about $1.5m that will see him leapfrog skipper Gary Ablett on the club’s pay scale next season.
With Ablett’s annual income set to dip below $400,000 in 2015, the final season of his heavily front-loaded five year deal, Swallow will become one of the club’s biggest earners when his new contract begins next season.
There were newspaper reports last week that the Suns were facing a battle to retain the services of the former No.1 draft pick.
Both clubs from his home state of Western Australia as well as North Melbourne, where his brother Andrew is captain, have expressed interest.
Love it.
