Port's fault.
25k is a great crowd for an amateur comp. go and look at the nrls crowds for its finals series.2 of the 3 lowest supporter bases (South Adl being the other one) playing each other today, so I'm thinking that 25,000+ is a great crowd

Compared to the WAFL it was a great crowd, they only got 13k or so. It was only a few thousand more than the prelim, and I read on twitter it was the lowest GF crowd since WW2.
Subiaco being in it again didn't help, neither did the 2 AFL prelims on the previous 2 days. West Perth have fans though, so I would have expected high teens.

Over 12,500 through the gate at QT of #PJVFLGF btw @BoxHillHawks & @WilliamstownFC - Seagulls by 14 early in 2nd
Isn't this pretty piss poor?!
Why the heck would you have it at Etihad when you can only get 12500!
Better off packing of a suburban ground!
Freo v Hawks - 41,508
WC v North - 43,080
Gives us a total of 420,331 with the GF to come.
Will be the lowest finals tally since the MCG redevelopment a decade ago.

Wow, that's a good pick up! Didn't realise a pre season soccer game pulls in more people than the grand final!!It does seem to be a challenge actually filling stadiums in the AFL when it is a sell out. Bit embarrassing, really, having the grand final outdrawn by an exhibition soccer game.
Then there are the home and away MCG sell outs that only pull 75-80k. Not that we had many of those (if any) this season.

Out of interest, what was the MCC ticketing policy for that particular soccer game?
http://www.mcc.org.au/Events at the MCG/International Champions Cup.aspxMembers’ Entry
For each of the three matches, MCC members and guest cardholders will be required to pre-purchase a $45 entry entitlement that will validate their card at the turnstiles.
It is important to note that when an entry entitlement has been purchased, the particular MCC photo ID membership card/guest card barcode provided at the time of purchase will be validated to ensure it scans at the Members Reserve turnstiles at the relevant soccer match.
Unless an entry entitlement has been purchased, the membership card/guest card will not be valid at the turnstiles.
IMPORTANT: Members who have purchased an entry entitlement but cannot attend that match are able to transfer their entry entitlement to another member.
Members transferring their entry entitlement must contact the club by phone or email, indicating the name and six-digit membership card number of the member they are transferring their entry entitlement to, by no later than 5.00pm the day before the relevant match. Transfers after this time will not be valid.
Honorary Life members, Honorary Cricket members and 50-Year members will be able to enter the Reserve free of charge by scanning their membership card at the turnstiles as usual.
----------------------------------------
Reserved Seats
In addition to purchasing an entry entitlement, for an additional $10 members will be able to purchase a reserved seat on Level 1 or Level 4.
In this instance, members will receive their non-barcoded entry entitlement receipt which will include the details of their reserved seat. Members must bring this receipt with them to the match.
View Members Reserve seating plan
Reserved seats will also be able to be purchased for guests at an additional cost of $10 (adults) and $5 (children) on top of the visitor ticket price.
UPDATE
Manchester City v Real Madrid (July 24)
- Visitor tickets SOLD OUT
- Reserved seats SOLD OUT- Members' entry entitlements available (limited)
*Note: Seat tickets will be distributed on the first three levels at the July 24 match.
----------------------------------------
Visitor Tickets
There is a maximum of four visitor tickets per member for each match.
They cost $105 (adults) and $60 (children under 15).
Members will not be able to purchase visitor tickets unless they have validated their own card for entry.
Entry entitlements, reserved seats and visitor tickets are on sale now at Ticketek or in person at the club during business hours.
Maybe a few people are tired of watching Hawthorn in the Grand Final.

98,633 for the GF. Lowest crowd since 2007 (excl the replay in 2010).
The empty seats at the top of the MCC section of the Ponsford offers further proof that the MCC and their antiquated 'just turn up on the day' system are basically a disgrace. Time that they joined everyone else in pre selling their seats. Any not taken up to be offered to the public. I'm pretty sure we could have found 1,000 people who were wiling to pay to go along today.
Wow. Two non australian soccer teams draw a bigger crowd than australias own games grand final. What a laugh.
