I would be surprised if Eddie & Gary Pert don't have a back up plan. They won't say it publicly but surely there is a plan B ready to go if the wheels fall off in 1015.
Probably another favourite son like Scotty Burns instead doing absolutely everything possible to get a established quality coach like Clarkson.

If we have to make Clarkson the first $2mil a season coach, then we should do it. We are the most wealthiest club in the country, as the godfather says, make him an offer he can't refuse.

I'm totally against sacking Buckley..... we should ask him to resign...

i have never ever been so disappointed with a Collingwood team since the last time we lost a game. To all those of you who see the sacking of Buckley as a short-term method of dealing with the current problems, all I can say to you is that we can only achieve our goals by addressing our issues one day at a time and that a series of short-term solutions is the only way to achieve another premiership...

This is a good strategy...and if Clarkson doesnt want to jump clubs, then put a horse's head in his bed...

Unfortunately the club is stayl! We need to do something. I went to the game and I notice the difference between the two teams at the huddle when the coaches where addressing the players! When bucks was talking half the players where looking around and looked disinterested. The dogs huddle every player had there eyes on there coach.

I love bucks as a player and I think he has a great football brain but he can't get his message across to players he just doesn't have that. This is just my opinion looking from the outside in

Lol we would have to offer at lot more than that. Why would he leave Hawthorn at the moment to coach us? Even if we offered him more money he is making heaps at Hawthorn.

Bucks is a lot more professional in press conferences than Clarko though.
Bucks spoke very well again tonight.

I have been very much pro Bucks but that is starting to change rapidly.
All I wanted to see this year was improvement. Something to make me feel optimistic about the direction we are going in. But what I have seen so far has been putrid. We seem to be going backwards at a rate of knots.

Ummmmmmmmm no it isn't?
Unfortunately we are not in a position to dismiss Nab cup games . Tonight was a missed opportunity to field our best side and really give it to the Bulldogs and build momentum for round 1 . After all the culture we want to see is a winning one isn't it ?

Ok smart arse. 3 years. I know that is a huge difference.

Also if you really believe that no coach could possibly do better than bucks then you are the toothless idiot. So all coaches are exactly the same or you think Bucks is the best coach in the league? Which is it?

And that has nothing to do with turning over the list. I don't even expect that we have to make the eight. But there are clearly areas which buckley could improve our performance. I don't know if you realised but Bucks isn't the list manager. He is the coach and he does have an effect on performances.
I'm not being a smartarse, but one year is 33% of the years he's coached to be fair.

It has absolutely everything to do with the turning over of the list, I cannot understand the logic otherwise. Explain to me how you expected us (keeping in mind the drafting structure in place) to turn years upon years of top table finishes, and an ageing list, into anything other than a 'rebuild' side?

I don't think there is a coach who would find a different result with this team - we're halfway through a rebuild for godsake. Looking at our list can you tell me that we're anything better than a 9-12 team? Seriously, if we had Al Clarkson I can't imagine much would change.

Hawks have seemed to stay in then TOP 8 quite well since 2008 and Cats been a Top Team since 2007

Hawks dropped out in 2009, but have been obviously strong 2010-2014.

Geelong have done extremely well for 7 years across two different coaching tenures. That core Cats groups is just unreal.

I don't see how that proves much of your point.

Just saying not all teams have to do a Total Re-Build to come back to the Top

Right now I'm not entirely convinced about Bucks. My doubts of his coaching abilities have existed for a while but I began to have serious doubts during the second half of last year but I reminded myself of the fact that the team has been rebuilding extensively under his tenure and the injuries in the last few match absolutely killed us plus he needs the appropriate time to see this through rather than us going for the knee-jerk decision to sack him immediately which could prove further detrimental for us if we don't make the right decisions in regards to who could replace him potentially.

However keeping Mick as coach would have done far greater damage in the long-term and in terms of list management. Mick's final two or three years at the club were all about embarking on short-term success which was successful in 2010 and came so close in 2011 and it's possible if Mick stayed beyond 2011 we may have been a strong and competitive unit for a few more years to come but after that we'd be in serious trouble and head down the path of St.Kilda and the Bulldogs who were strong teams in 2009/2010 but have declined dramatically in a short space of time which has been disastrous for these clubs.

I think having Bucks in charge means we're better set up in the long-term in terms of where our list is at heading into the late 2010s but serious doubt still hover over his ability to get the best out of these young talented players. Right now we're going to really suffer for embarking on a long-term ambition because of the experience we had to get trade or delist to ensure that we would have top 10 draft picks in the last few years such as Scharenberg, Freeman, De Goey and Moore.

The jury is out on Bucks and I want him to succeed just like everyone else here does but he's not untouchable however and he needs to be judged and analysed objectively when it comes to his performance as coach and the way the team progresses this year. We'll wait and see what happens before making premature statements.

That's just my two cents but at this current moment I'm quite concerned about where things are under heading under Buckley. However I'm unsure of whether last night is going to be an aberration or the norm of 2015.

We've dropped away every year under Buckley. When is the improvement even coming?
