Yeah Bucks has no idea is the call from a few. Where's the gameplan? Even the muppet yelling at Eddie after a game last year was saying something about gameplan.
FFS, what is a gameplan?
It's the method you use to win the ball back from the opposition and having done so then moving it forward in order to score.

Ours is loosely based around a "full court press" where we pressure our opponent into mistakes and then attempt to capitalize on the loose space created away from the contest. It's a flawed gameplan because we often commit too many numbers to contests we don't win, we don't have the fitness to execute it with any great consistency and we don't have the skills to execute when we do manage to turn the ball over.

It really isn't a foreign concept, but it's one that our coaching staff have failed to develop in their time in charge. Amazingly we stumbled onto what works well for us early last season, what I would call a "soft flood", but incredibly have moved away from it post bye last year. The soft flood waswhere our midfielders folded back and do most of the rebound 50 work what it meant was they didn't have the same pressure on them to hit the scoreboard, but it also meant we moved the ball better in transition.

I could write a bloody thesis on how we move the ball and what we try to do, but at the end of the day whats the point? Most on here don't want to delve that deeply into things and going over it isn't goingvto help Buckley improve our "gameplan".

Dead man walking. Eddie setting high expectations so he cn more easily sack Bucks. If he wanted to keep him around, he'd be setting the media up to expect very little.

Cunning work by Eddie.
Eddie has put some presure on Bucks and the players with his comments. I tend to think that they were made from a sincere belief in the club's chances rather than a ploy to set up Bucks. I doubt if even a bottom 4 finish would be enough for the club to sack Bucks. I am very confident he will be our coach next year at the very least.

Buckley will be given every opportunity and many chances to be successful. Eddie has and will continue to back him in. I think over the next 18 months we will see what Buckley can do now he has moulded the list to suit him

Touchy touchy, u going to be ok?

I said we ran out of legs, we played 2 epic finals against WC and hawthorn before playing in grand final. We had 4-5 players enter that grand final carrying injuries, and we didnt hav beams. The first 3 qtrs in that grand final was some of the best football i hav seen. Half way through last qtr we were running on empty.

As for where things are now, if u giv half your talent away thats what u get. If u bring in scrubbers from other clubs to fill the gaps of those players while hoping the players u drafted come through, thats also what u get.

Trading or recruiting spuds like white, young, lynch, russell and armstrong is what has cruelled us. Combine all their wages and get a jet instead of spreading money over players who are no good. Now we hav added varcoe to that list

Terrible recruiting and f/a selections in the past few years.
Rubbish - exaggeration seems to be the only way you can comfort yourself that your views have any credibility, when choosing to ignore the facts.

I'm not too concerened with the win/loss record this year. I want to see evidence of a side who play for their coach.

Exactly.... Just want to see improvement in game plan which may not result in more wins this year but provide us with a direction moving forward. I think this young side will develop immensely over the next 18 months. Bucks just needs to pump games into the young talent we have coming through

He had a bad game agaisnt carlton, fasolo played even worse last weekend.. But you don't question fasolo's spot.. I wouldn't question eithers spot but there seems to be a little bias going on here no offence intended just what I see
I've had this debate with GoneCritical before.

He absolutely loves Fasolo and has no time for PK even though he will rage on about other reasons why he should not be in the side.

The problem is, the same reasons why PK should not be in the side apply equally (if not more) to Fasolo.

What's worse is that Fasolo has spoilt brat attitude and has been given chance after chance and PK has not.

Fasolo should of been used as trade bait a while ago. If everyone goes to plan, should be out of the side by the end of the year due to natural progression of the kids. Only thing that will save him is majority of the time the 7 kicks he gets a game hits a target.

I think Fasolo has a little more performance history behind him and also looked more dangerous against Carlton than PK so I would leave him in. But Fasolo wouldnt want to have another game like he did against the Dogs. If he did and PK played well in the VFL I would swap them over. Best outcome is if both can live up to the promise they show. I have Fas ahead currently and think he is the better of the 2 but the difference isn't great

I think you overstate my case. I have Fasolo ahead for the moment, It is a big year for both of them. I have plenty of time for PK. Love all the Marcellin boys who come through the Pies, Gavin Brown, AT etc even Murray Browne has a big link though his son is at Essendon. So I would love PK to make it big time at the Pies.

I think there is a spot for both PK and Fasolo in the 22, Fasolo as the small forward pocket and sit a clokes feet all day, PK I believe he should be playing as a high half forward. They are totally different players but share a common theme... Lack of work rate

This is my thing. I just want to see something. A sign that we're legitimately heading in the right direction. Thing is, with the talent still left over from the premiership side, that should still result in wins more often than not.

Let's see but the NAB cup games have evidenced that the players not only do not play for their coach, but they don't know what they are doing.

Couldn't agree more the lack of consistency in his game is very damming. After 5 years in the system he's managed just 6 matches with 20+ possessions and 2 of those came last year in defence...

Personally I'm not too worried about the NAB cup games. There have been many people who have lost money on round 1 by taking those games as a form guide. I think by round 11 we will have a fair idea in which direction we are heading.

Sure, but we should not be relying on the team suddenly switching to "game mode" as soon as the season starts. The players should show intensity regardless of whether it is NAB cup.

I have no idea if the players liked Barassi but he was able to motivate them to win.
Or they were a very good teams. My point is players don't necessary have to play for or like the coach. So sick of hearing the love the players had for MM.
At North, he was able to buy in a very good group of players and a number hated him.

You never know. Its been pretty documented that this pre season has been very hard, can only assume harder than previous years. Maybe the club decided to put the cue in the rack and the obvious signs of fatigued were present in the past 2 nab cup games. A week and a half worth of refreshing sessions and the club may of tapered us for round 1 backing in the systems and going for the extra fitness instead of a few NAB cup results.

My point is that Bucks has to be able to motivate the players to perform at a consistently high team level.

I wonder who motivates Roger Federer, Lewis Hamilton, Floyd Mayweather, Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James, Tiger Woods............maybe we can give them a call and find out the people who are motivating them to be the best....
