Buckley didn't deserve the loss today but as it stands (thanks to our horrible start) we wont be playing finals. A new coach would get this list top 4 in 2017, but I've accepted he will most likely play out his current contract.

Yes a new coach would do a Mr Miyagi and clap his hands, rub injury and all, players would be fit.... Then top 4.
Not quite sure it works that way

It's disappointing for the coach because he knew we were in pole position to close out this game.
You could sense he really wanted Fas to play in that last term but unfortunately as he said post game, there's the thought of winning a game of football, yet the responsibility to have a duty of care. They tried to get Fas up but his fitness test was a failure. Could you imagine the outrage if he went back on the ground and was severely hurt further?

I just hope the coach doesn't hold this against Fas or thinks he is mentally "weak" or unable to play through the pain.

He definitely won't think that of Fasolo.
Fasolo has stepped up so well this year.
I await next season if Elliot comes up and coupled with Fasolo.

Noticed there was a question from Bucks to Fas during the final break. I saw Fas say" "don't know, we'll see.". I assume the question was, "is that a torn AC?" or something related to the severity of the injury.

No coach would send their hurt player back into the game. A person's health > a game of football.

we aren't making finals. Can only afford to lose 2 more games for the whole year if we are to make finals, not happening unfortunately.
I often see this argument these days, that you need 14 games minimum to play finals. I just don't think history supports that position.

In 2015, 13 wins gets you into the 8, regardless of percentage.
In 2014, 12 wins gets you in, regardless of percentage.
In 2013, 11 wins gets you in, regardless of percentage.
In 2011, 11 wins gets you in, regardless of percentage.
In 2010, 11 wins lands you 8th or 9th, depending on percentage.
In 2009, 10 wins gets you in, regardless of percentage...

You get my point. The only season in history where 14 wins was required to make the finals was in 2012, where we had the completely unique occurrence of having two expansion teams and three additional struggling teams who were all so deplorably bad that none won more than 5 games for the year. Five teams on five wins or less propping up the rest of the competition - GWS, Gold Coast, Melbourne, the Bulldogs and Port Adelaide. They were all SO bad that they artificially inflated the wins column for the remaining thirteen teams.

In almost every other year in history, 13 wins will get you into the 8 regardless of percentage. Usually, 12 is enough. Often, 11 will do the job, and in rare circumstances, 10 wins will sneak you in.

Ultimately, history says that we could drop four more games this season and still be a good chance at playing finals. Unfortunately, I think you're right in saying we won't see September - I don't think that we'll be able to knock up even 12 wins given our horrid start and even worse injury luck.

What other teams?
At this stage I am not fussed about finals. We lost too many in the beginning.
As long as we keep on going and building. No more losses like last yr vs Richmond. And is the team improving?
So far Howe down back has been good , White seems to flourish again, Cox is good too but still finding his feet( understandably a bit hard from that height).
If the tough love for Cloke and Aish pays off, he gets a pass mark to serve out his last year.

I shall call you Tony Abbott if you keep this up.

I was a bit depressed and even starting to experience some self-loathing till I came across your quotes. you're confusing me... so should this miyagi guy be interviewed for the coaching position or is he a fitness expert. Either way, it sounds like he would get us on top of our injury concerns. Does the club know about him? Is he under contract with another club?

eddie spoke about this after the match, bucks challenged fas to get back on the field but he failed the fitness test so it didn't happen.

Credit to Bucks and the coaching staff for turning things around down back. I don't have the stats, but a month ago we were the worst or close to the worst team for leaking goals and scores kicked against. We have significantly improved in that area, despite injuries to 3 or 4 defenders. Shoring up the defensive structure with Howe and Adams has worked; Reid in great form and even Frosty doing well (he was dropped earlier in the season) has been significant. The tighter and harder working structure overall has been huge, and the players too have made that happen.

That's about right, only thing is with 18 teams I think 12 is all but mandatory these days assuming not too many chopping blocks

Mr Miyagi is dead.

This should not count him out to run our high performance department.

His mistakes will be few and he will be unfazed by the inevitable criticism.

Yes, lets forget about the entire 2015 and start of the season. Who needs finals anyway right? Buckley has had too many chances, somebody else needs to take this team up the ladder.
